Be nice and Don't nitpick Author: Jeanie Lerche Davis Date Published: No date (reviewed May 30, 2006) Why Relevant and Summary: This article discusses how to make a marriage a successful one. It talks about the basic respect that partners need to show each other. It says that a happy marriage means respecting your spouse. It also discusses healthy ways to resolve conflicts step by step with a spouse. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article made a great point - that true compatibility doesn't exist, so shrug off the little stuff. It says that irreconcilable differences are normal and we shouldn't try to resolve or unresolve but rather come to terms with them and except the differences between you and your partner. I often feel that if you are unhappy because of disagreements that will never be resolved -then you should leave. But the point that we should just except these disagreements and cherish the stronger aspects of a relationship has changed my thinking on this. Credibility of Source: Credible- it is on WebMD.com and was reviewed by an MD and has reliable sources cited.
