In the past we have seen Chetan Bhagat’s books making it big whenever adapted for silver screen. There has been screen-adaptation of his books like Five Point Someone (3 Idiots) One Night At A Call Centre (Hello), Three Mistakes of My Life (Kai Po Che), and 2 States is still under the production.And now, the latest buzz has that another of his book will be adapted on big screen. This time Bhagat has teamed up with Disney UTV, for his latest bestseller Revolution 2020, which is to be directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. For those unaware, the novel talks down the lives of three childhood friends, Gopal, Raghav and Aarti."It is an intense love story set against the backdrop of corruption in the education sector, which affects millions across the country. I can't wait for the three characters to be cast and brought to life," said Bhagat. On his part, Raj Kumar says, "When I read the novel, I was quite moved. It is a very simple and heartfelt story about being young, being confused, being in love, getting corrupt... I am looking forward to writing and directing this book for the screen."Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Studios, Disney UTV, adds, "We are excited to have played the catalyst in bringing Chetan and Raj Kumar together. Chetan had shared the draft of his book with us even before it was published and we instantly reacted to its cinematic potential. It has an incredibly well-graphed storyline and the issues it deals with are those that today's youth will instantly relate to and identify with." The screenplay of the film is currently underway and is expected to go on floors mid-2014.

When 32 years back, Umrao Jaan released, starring Rekha as ravishingly beautiful, tragedy-stricken courtesan of Lucknow, the film broke all records at the box-office, and is still remembered for its uniqueness. The film was helmed by Muzaffar Ali, and written by Javed Siddiqui.The duo had planned that they would come up with a sequel to Umrao Jaan someday, and now they have united again for another film on a courtesan, however, it won’t be a sequel to the 1981 classic. In fact, buzz states that the director has abandoned the idea of the sequel altogether.Earlier, Ali had planned a sequel where Umrao returns to the 'kotha' and continues her life. He was to show Rekha as the aged Umrao. Siddiqui told the sources, "Two years back, we started working on the second instalment. And Rekha was more than glad to do the film. But now, the plan has changed. Rekha doesn't fit into my scheme of things now."It is learnt that Ali and Siddiqui were not happy with the fate met by JP Dutta's Aishwarya-Abhishek starrer Umrao Jaan, which was on the same topic. "Frankly, it is difficult to live up to the high standards of the original film. Also, most sequels or even remakes are not well received," Ali said.We’re sure it must have come as huge disappointment for Rekha and Umrao Jaan’s fans!

Films capture journeys but in Imtiaz Ali's much-awaited Highway, the journey has made the film. Presented by Sajid Nadiadwala and starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, the film traverses six states of north India and captures the landscape of the different regions as it goes along.Highway Diaries, are short video snippets that capture the journey of the film and all the exciting experiences that the cast and crew had during its making.In the latest episode of Highway Diaries titled 'Songs of the Valley', Imtiaz Ali is seen sitting with gujari folk singer Begum Jaan and her group, engrossed in  their music, while shooting for' Highway' at Aru valley in Kashmir. He says, “...while it (the song) should connect with the larger experience that Veera (Alia's character) has in the film, it should still be about that time and place..and its music."The film comes out in February!

It is a known fact that Deepika Padukone was approached for the seventh part of Hollywood flick Fast and Furious, but due to her recent released film Ram Leela, she couldn’t take it up. However, the gorgeous actress says she does not regret being unable to make her debut in English film world.“I don't regret it. I had to work out things for Ram Leela here, I couldn't have left the process mid way, and I had given my commitment here first. Looking at the way the film Ram Leela has got response, I feel good as my hard work has paid off,” shares the long less.Deepika, 27, make her plans clear that she is still open to doing films whenever the right offer comes up. “I would love to do a Hollywood film. And not like a sushi raw fish. I held a fish and had to eat it. And for the record, it tastes exactly how it smells." She further revealed that the crew of the movie kept on motivating her to do it. "They kept saying its Sushi and I am like, I am beholding it and I don’t like fish. But no, I don’t care, give me some soya sauce on it and give me some rice."Meanwhile, what comes as exciting news was that Lawrence was worried she would get bored playing Katniss. ''I actually really worried at the beginning of these movies that I would get so bored of playing the same person for so long. Commando star Vidyut Jamwal, who recently starred in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja, has successfully impressed the audience as well as critics with his chiseled packs and high kicks. The film released on last Friday, and opened to good reviews from the critics.Even though his role was not a lengthy one in Bullett Raja, still Vidyut successfully impressed one and all. And now Vidyut is all set to take up the title of Action Hero of film industry. Quizzed why he decided to do the film despite it being a special appearance, he said, ''The driving force for Bullett Raja was Tigmanshu Dhulia. I love the way he makes movies. And I being a North Indian, I love the way he portrays the belt. Nobody else in the country does it. So when he told me I was very excited, though it was a small one.'' Excited about bring part of the film, Vidyut said, ''For me Bullett Raja was a double whammy as it is a Tigmanshu Dhulia film with action sequences.'' The film was presented by Fox Star Studios, Bullett Raja, and it starred Saif Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Grover, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, Ravi Kishan and Raj Babbar among others.

Academy Award winning Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tavonic is not happy that The Good Road has been chosen over The Lunchbox as the representative to compete for the Oscar in the best foreign language film category this year. He claims that he didn’t say this because he has co-produced The Lunchbox, starring Irrfan Khan as lead. For the uninitiated, the Film Federation of India (FFI) chose The Good Road, a Gujarati travel drama, over Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox, as they felt that the former movie reflects an India that our movies usually don't showcase. "You had a chance and you don't have it anymore," Tanovic said, adding: "If I could give my place to The Lunchbox, I would give it." Tavonic is unhappy that The Lunchbox didn’t get the chance. "It's still stuck in my throat - the decision... If you ought to win an Oscar, then you put the better horse in the race. The best horse was The Lunchbox," Tanovic said at the ongoing Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF). "They should know it from Lagaan. Lagaan was the last Indian film in the Oscar shortlist and it had the backing of Sony Pictures Classics, due to which they managed it. I spoke to somebody in India and asked them, 'Why did you send The Good Road? The person responded - 'It is a good film'." "It's not a question of a good film. It's about whether you really want to win an Oscar, or do you want to send a film which you think is great," said Tanovic. Guess everyone has an opinion on this subject!

B-town actress Deepika Padukone welcomed fame early in her life, being the daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Also he got to travel places early in her life, as most importantly she was born in the foreign country, and also it happens to be the best place for her.Talking in depth about her favorite destinations and food, she says, “Since I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, it is my favourite city. And when I get the time, I love to shop in London and Dubai, that satisfies my shoe fetish. My wardrobe keeps on changing according to the advice of my designers.”“However, I love street shopping. And wherever I go I take time out to shop to my heart’s content. I also love Bhopal. While shooting for Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan I loved the peace and serenity of Bhopal. In the evenings, when the day’s shoot was over, I would love to take a cup of coffee and sit by the window and enjoy the sunset,” she adds.On the food, she reveals, “I always carry homemade food while travelling. I am very fond of south Indian dishes made by mom. And she still worries about my food when I am travelling. In any country, I always look forward to eating at Indian restaurants.”“Recently I travelled by road from Chandigarh to Manali and due to delays, I left my food behind in Chandigarh. Luckily my mother’s advice to my staff saved the day. She had directed my staff to always carry packets of biscuits and these biscuits came as a blessing during the trip,” says Deepika.“I love to go on holidays after a film shoot is done. I also love to go to Bengaluru where my parents live especially because I relish my mom’s dishes.
