Great report on how the libraries in NY and New Jersey became centers of communication during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Could museum's serve the same purpose in their community? This concept could be worked into museums' Disaster Preparedness plan.

Elaine Gurian has been advocating for years for museums to be "essential" in their communities. This is an example of walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Yes, museums should think about how they could serve their communities in the event of disasters and build those ideas into their prepardedness plans.

A thought-provoking list. The "Corporate Disorganizer" could be the strategic foresight specialist who helps the organization see how they fit or might fit with plausible futures.

Can you 3D print an airplane?  Maybe, but it'll be impractical.  But what if you could assemble one out of mass produced "digital" materials?

Well, it looks like one more "invention from the future" is about to invade the market. Let's just hope Big Brother isn't watching. The real question however is how can something like Google Glasses be used by the museum field. Actually, the possibilities are endless.

I found this article an interesting take on the idea using futures thinking in a personal way to help potential customers/users/visitors think about all kinds of choices they make in terms of how those choices will affect them -- as individuals -- in the future.

If you haven't seen Nina's blog this week, it's a "must read!" It's an important reminder that there are many different types of museum visitors out there, and while we should all provide access for a diversity of audiences, we don't want to forget those elitist jerks (especially since you and I may fall into that category more often than we'd like to admit).

Older mothers make sense when young adults are living with the parents longer. How will this change what museums need to provide in terms of family experiences?

Well, it looks like an improved economy isn't changing the trend of millennials staying or returning home. Pew isn't even certain why. What do you think?
