Whoops, I seem to keep finding things that have already been posted!

I am guessing that there are resources like this one available for many or most topic areas by now. I have found several that will be helpful in gathering materials for each of my planned Modules.

Marshall, I found one for teaching Literature Online. Similar layout: blocks with some materials/ideas, and a bibliography with some interesting sources. Good deal.

This resource gives some great, easy to read ideas for matching your learning objectives with your assessment techniques. It also has a list of criteria for writing clear assignments, which could be useful as a checklist when creating a new assignment.

Hi Susan - I particularly liked the Alignment tab, which gave some very clear suggestions of assignments that align with stated learning objectives. Your suggestion of a checklist is brilliant! I also noticed that they linked to their Institutional Assessment page from this page - a nice reminder that everything needs to be in alignment at every level.

Teacher resources and professional development across the curriculum

In designing my syllabus, I'm trying to decide whether to include testing like I do in the conventional version of the course, which has a midterm and a final. This resource from Iowa State is helping me think about whether a midterm will be useful in the same way for an online course as it is for a conventional one-and how I might format it if I decide to have one.

Edutopia's compilation of OERs for writing. Among my favorites is Andrea Walsh's MIT course on expository writing: Analyzing Mass Media.

MERLOT is a CoI revolving around technology and learning objects. It is a repository of learning objects that can be accessed and used. The objects are grouped according to subject / content, and they are peer-reviewed. This is an excellent resource with something for everyone. (My personal favorite object - the "eye simulator," which demonstrates the actions of the 6 extrinsic muscles of the eye and lets you "paralyze" muscles specifically to examine the effect on eye movement - completely cool!) There is also a wealth of other information on their site (sorry - within their community :) Best of all - all the resources at MERLOT are free.

The Blended Synchronous Learning Handbook is the primary output of the Blended Synchronous Learning Project. It includes the summative findings of the Blended Synchronous Learning case studies, a Blended Synchronous Learning Design Framework, and a range of other resources and information to support blended synchronous learning design research and practice.
