Wearable Antenna for USMC - 1 views

  •
God bless America for the most technologically advanced trigger happy group of soldiers in the world. America is constantly trying to better their view of the battlefield so today BAE systems unveiled a GPS unit that can track, and see what the soldiers see's at all times. This is to be transmitted from an extra light garment like antenna to a command center where generals can have a better view of the battlefield. Bless America and its continuing fight against the fascist, the communist, the terrorist and the intellectual community. USA USA USA USA USA -Certified American Badass

    The intellectual community?

Sarcasm, republican primaries have left me with some resentment. i feel if they get in charge we can say goodbye to american scientific innovation for the next little while.

You will never lose your dog again - 0 views

  •
This is a new device that just attaches to dog collars. it will track the pet down no matter where it goes. it just attaches to the collar, so that you will never lose your dog. you just have to charge the battery before going on a walk because the battery only lasts a week, but if you do not charge it regulary then that number will obviously decrease. this device comes with an app so that you can use your phone too.this device will help new pet owners find their pets in case something goes wrong. Maybe i should get one for my brother, he doesn't take directions like "stay here," or "follow me," very well.

But, there Is also a month of free technIcal support. So, there Is somethIng to gaIn. MIllIons of customers worldwIde were left wIthout access to varIous apps, emaIl, etc. Is thIs a bIg enough apology?
  •
After a BlackBerry service outage that lasted more than three days, RiM is trying to make fix their mistakes  by offering them a selection of premium apps for free, as well as one month of free technical support. The RiM service outage was the biggest one they have ever had, and alot of customers are starting to switch, but RiM ensures this will never happen again... yeah right...
  •
All Blackberry users including myself were all ticked off after the 3 day service outage. As an apology, RiM (company that makes Blackberrys) decided to offer 12 free apps for Blackberry users. (Bejeweled, Texas Hold'em Poker 2, Bubble Bash and Shazam Encore) On top of that RiM has given us one month of technical support. i admit that RiM is trying hard to get back on track but sadly this isn't going to keep customers from switching phones. :$

Crime Predicting Software - 0 views

  •
A researcher at Santa Clara University has developed a software that is used to predict locations of crimes before they actually happen. The software uses locations of previous crimes to predict areas where crimes will happen. i think that this software could be very useful because even just having police around places that crimes may occur would stop criminals from committing them. The soft has been correct 25% of the time on locations of crimes which is truly astounding because that means that there is that much more of a chance that the criminals will be caught

Japan's Ministry of Defense develops spherical drone - 0 views

  •
This drone is quite impressive because not only can this drone fly it is able to adapt to many obstacles that it may encounter such as being hit by something, in which case the drone would still be able to absorb the impact and continue flying. The drone also has the ability to move vertically and horizontally at speeds up to 60 mph. i find this drone incredible, and something that may lead to the future of our armed forces.

Would Anybody Else Upload Their Consciousness to the internet? [Just Me?] - 0 views

  •
As seen in the popular show "The Big Bang Theory" when Sheldon attempts to preserve himself long enough so that he could move his entire consciousness to a machine in the future. ideas arise about if this could be possible and if so, how? These questions can not be answered for sure at this point in time but it definitely seems like a possibility with the ever growth of new technology. i can't think of a reason of why this wouldn't be possible.

some more hi tech glasses - 1 views

  •
these glasses may be big and attached to a pack which must be carried with you, but it is pretty cool. these glasses may not look like much, but when you where them and turn them on, it displays a projection screen about 1 meter away from your eyes. like what you always see in spy movies or something. the little packs can attach to your belt, and displays it like a screen, it is meant for workers so that they can view the manual when working on something without climbing down to get it. NEC will start shipping these out on Dec 26(the day after Christmas) and i think that it will prove to be very useful in every day situations. it is priced at 400,000 yen or $5,200, but the software is at 1.9 million yen or $25,000

Why wait for the iPhone 5? - 0 views

  •
rumor after rumor has circulated about Apple's latest iteration of their immensely popular iPhone line. i don't need to tell you that the iPhone 4 has been tremendously successful, and Apple has been selling them just as quickly as they can roll off of production lines. With such a successful phone, it was initially guessed/suggested/prophesied that the next iPhone would receive only minor changes, essentially rendering it an 'S' model (think iPhone 3GS). Now, i'm going to tell you that the iPhone 4S moniker would be a misnomer.

Apple is actually thinking of coming out with their own HDTV. Since Apple doesn't really use buttons, there TV will have self-function. Which means that you can simply tell the TV to change the channel and soon enough your on a different channel. Amazing, right? i think this TV is actually one of the coolest inventions that Apple has made.

Green Computing - Environmental issues - The Carnegie Cyber Academy - An Online Safety site and Games for Kids - 0 views

  • Many of the technologies we use every day consume a lot more resources and power than they need to, and using and manufacturing them can create a mess. Here are a few of the ways that technology can harm the environment: Pollution - Air, water, heat and noise pollution can all be caused by producing and using technology Consuming resources - Non-renewable resources, including precious metals like gold, are used to make technology. Many others, such as coal, are consumed to generate the electricity to use technology. Even some renewable resources, like trees and water, are becoming contaminated or are used up faster than they can renew themselves because of technology. Waste - Manufacturing technology creates large amounts of waste, and used computers and electronics get thrown out when they break or become outdated. Called "technotrash," these electronics contain all sorts of hazardous materials that are very unsafe for the environment. They need to be disposed of using special methods. Disrupting ecology - Clearing land where animals used to live to build factories and allowing pollution to contaminate the food chain can greatly affect the environment's natural cycles. Health hazards - Using toxic materials that can harm our health can cause cancer, and technology addiction can lead to other health problems like obesity and carpal tunnel syndrome. You can encourage manufacturers by choosing to buy more energy-efficient and less hazardous electronics and by supporting companies that make protecting the environment a priority. You can also do your own part to reduce environmental impact by not being wasteful and disposing of your electronics safely and properly.
  •
this is a problem because people are demanding more computers and phones now because life without them is hard, now you can only apply for jobs on computers or do homework on computers now, so more people need them. This is affecting the environment because to make all these devices are harming the environment, for example the pollution from the factory making the products and the precious metals and supply's we are using to make the devices are non-renewable. So we should find a way to make computers and phones without effecting the environment as much as we are now. this is how computers and phones are affecting the environment, and the demand on computers are just gonna get higher and higher, so we should find a way to build the computer without effecting the environment as much fast.
  •
This is an article about how computers affect our environment, how we can help, and what computers can do to actually benefit us in the world. Some examples of computers ruining the environment could be usage of valuable resources and pollution due to computer waste. Some examples of how we can help would be sanitizing our hard drive, donating our mobile device, raising funds from techno trash, and re-using ink cartridges. Technology can help the environment by helping us develop and produce sustainable practices in the environment. it also allows for paperless communication which limits the taking down of trees. in my opinion i completely agree with what this article has to say. it expands on computers issues but also its strengths.
  •
Many people do not know that just throwing away your old electronics can build up and create a lot of air and water pollution, as well as heat and noise pollution. in our electronics there are many different types of non-renewable resources, also many precious metals are used such as gold, and silver. All electronics contain hazardous  materials that can have a negative impact on our environment, this materials have to be disposed using special methods. You can help the environment by buying more energy efficient products, as well and products that have less hazardous materials inside of them. Also you can dispose your electronics properly and safely. But on the other side using computers can help the environment, because less trees will be cut down for paper. When disposing of electronics improperly can increase the amount of carbon emissions that are the main cause to global warming, also known as greenhouse gases.
