Steve Jobs, Human Being: 10 Quirky Details From Bestselling Biography - 0 views

  •
We now see what Steve Jobs was truly like, what kind of a man he really was. The authorized biography of the genius's life by Walter Isaacson quickly rose to the top of the charts after being released on Monday, and many are finding it hard to resist. This biography unveils many a thing about Steve Jobs that the general populace might not have known before. For instance, and this is really weird, Jobs believed that deodorant was useless, and his vegan diet would make him smell nice enough. Huh. Well, geniuses usually have quirks. But, after all the contributions he made to the world of technology and advancements, has it any meaning that he didn't use any deodorant? Weird, but still. Once again, so long, and farewell, Steve Jobs.

Give Your Kids "The Talk" Without Feeling Awkward and Uncomfortable - 0 views

  •
Well basically this article is about having the sexual talk with your children. Many parents may be afraid to talk their kids about sex but hey you know you got to do it after a while eh? Anyways  the article also tells you to listen to a woman to help you talk to your children, I think you shouldn't really listen to this woman just do what feels right. If you read what this woman says its basically giving you some tips on what to say if you really don't know how to approach this situation. As a child i was thought about this subject in school and when it came to the talk it wasn't really that weird it was ok. This is important to know because children of our age will have to have this talk with there children (If they have children). Yes it may be awkward but you have to do what you have to do.

Jailbreaking now legal under DMCA for smartphones, but not tablets | Ars Technica - 0 views

  •
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was passed to help protect digital rights, but allowed the Librarian of Congress to make exceptions to the act that would otherwise not follow the act. Today (October 28), four new exemptions to the DMCA were put into effect most notably the legalizing of jailbreaking on iPhones but not iPads. The other exemptions to the DMCA are the requirement of disabled people to own multiple devices in order to access e-books, the illegalizing of unlocking a cell phone purchased after January 2013 at a new carrier without permission from your old carrier, and the legalizing of ripping some content of a DVD only for specific purposes. The new exemptions put into effect could have a serious impact on the technology market. The number of e-book reader sold to disabled customers will decrease drastically since they will have to buy other devices so they can legally read e-books. Apple and app developers would also lose a lot of revenue from the App Store since more users will be motivated to jailbreak their iPhones and get pirated apps instead of actually buying apps since they can do so legally. The new exemptions could cause some providers to lose some money though not a significant amount should the provider refuse to unlock cell phones when consumers go to other countries since in the foreign country, consumers will be paying and using service from a local provider instead of their original provider causing them to miss out on some money. Finally, the DMCA exemptions could cause a decrease in DVD sales not just because they are losing popularity already but also because if someone wants to rip a part of a DVD, they can just borrow it from someone else instead of buying and ripping the needed content. I think these new exemptions are very silly and could end up being more harmful than useful. Making disabled customers buy multiple devices just to access e-books is very discouraging to potential e-book reader customers. I also wonder th

Windows 8 Consumer Preview now available to download - 0 views

  •
Microsoft has finally released the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, the successor to the Developer Preview they released a few months ago. In this version, Xbox Live support has been added, along with the Windows Store opening for business, which lets users download new Metro apps... but not Desktop apps. Also, the Start Button has been moved to this slide-out panel to the right of the screen. I think Microsoft is taking a huge misstep with Windows 8 in terms of it's UI. They should either have all desktop or all Metro UI. Having used Windows 8, switching between the two is just weird because of how incredibly different both interfaces are. And don't even get me started with the freakin' ARM version not letting you sideload apps! And- and- and-... I'll stop complaining now.

Emoticons Are Reshaping Our Brains, We Now Process :-) As A Human Face - 0 views

  •
Because of social media and texting 24/7, our minds have become accustomed to emoticons and what they represent. For example, our brains now register the colon - dash - close - bracket as a real smiling face. This phenomenon has been studied by scientists and this break through is not only interesting but also dawns upon the fact of how people right now are beginning to be taken over by technology. If just seeing a few markings of type makes one remember a face, then what more weird things will we be able to connect with text to in the future? It's not just smiley faced emoticons people register as well - there are thousands of emoticons that people now understand are pictures that are smaller versions of a bigger idea such as, OTL representing a person kneeling in failure and even, (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻, to represent the action of flipping a table.

Man Turns Random Tech Into Musical Instruments [VIDEO] - 0 views

  •
Musician Mikael Mutti uses engineer electronics and gaming controllers to create instruments and new sounds. This video was made using the controllers in the video-including a Rock band Guitar/ iPad hybrid, Japanese office telephone, a Wii remote and a Beamz laser motion sensor. Using a bluetooth and USB, Mikael plugs two controllers into his laptop and creates the video music using Reason and Pro Tools. Isn't it just weird how you can make different sounds and instruments out of electronics and game controllers?!

This includes a laser tube doorway, random dog bowls, and many other weird things.

This Empty Lotion Bottle Is a Game Controller, Because Why Not | Game|Life | Wired.com - 0 views

  •
A man has created a controller out of an empty lotion bottle, because why not. The creator said that "mouse and keyboard games are pretty common, so I thought I'd make a weird controller." I honestly think that this is a great idea. The character in game is just a lotion bottle with wings. This is probably not a game that anyone would play constantly, but it is a game nonetheless. The fact that he made a controller out of a lotion bottle, surprises me. It makes me think about the many other possibilities that can happen.

Robots Playing Ping Pong - 0 views

  •
This shows an excellent example on how we are advancing in technology. The author feels scared for humanity, though for reasons unknown. These two robots are called "Wu" and "Kong," meaning Monkey King. These robots are capable of forehand hits as well as backhands. They are not mobile and are only able to hit the ball with extreme precision.
