Would lowering the legal age help colleges curb alcohol abuse?

This article talks about fast food and its impact on this generation. It involves McDonald's legal battles with people becoming obese. This article has insite the obesity issue, that will be helpful to my paper. The outlook had good percentages to age to college kids consuming fast food.

Several reasons influence the decisions of these young adults: parental focus and attitude, below proficient levels of understanding, and comprehension in history, social studies, and civics classes, and lack of practice or experience in political engagement. Although the article is informational, the content does not lead itself to the particular point of interest.

This article was a study that examined nutritional education, label reading behavior, and compared these answers with age, sex, education level. The study was aimed to test label reading in correlation to previous nutritional education and knowledge level. This source had good statistics in the introduction. The paper may have been alittle off my topic but did have useful conslusions on to who reads the nutrtional labels. The test was mostly women, undergraduates, and nonsmokers, so may have been bias in people being studied.

An experiment using music to teach English-as-a-second langauge to elementary aged children. All the students were native Spanish-speaking first graders. The author explains how the students are expected to learn Spanish writing and reading first but then switch to an English curriculum. She used songs and music to help them transition to English. In this article, the authors hypothesis that music perception skills are linked to early reading skills in children. Using a test group of 100 4- and 5-year-olds, they discovered that while there were differences in the age groups that overall their hypothesis was well supported. Their research shows that music perception is directly related to reading skills and phonological awareness but that In the 4-year-olds, musical ability was the link to reading, while in the 5-year-olds, pitch processing was the link. Todd and Variyum research the use of nutritional labels. This study finds that numbers have gone done from 1995 to 2006, in how many people read the nutritional facts labels on foods. They concluded that the majority of this decrease was from people 30 and younger. This source was very valid becuase it comes from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and has reputable sources.

This article adresses obesity increasing in the US. It is less current (1999) but still useful facts about the background of over-eating. The chronology is useful to my research. Also the article has good background that I can use in my introduction.
