As teenagers our brain has not fully developed yet. we are just using parts of it. the emotional part of it. that is why we make dumb, and ridiculous decisions in life. Ze Frank made this very clear by telling us how the science behind it all worked.

their crest has a serpent (snake) biting a golden foot in the ankle. The foot however was stomping on the snake. This shows us that the Montressers do not tolerate people crossing the line with their family.

Sammy quit his job because he wanted to get the girls' attention. He thought that since his life is goin nowhere anyways he might as well just take the slim chance he had. When he walked out the store and looked around for the girls and they weren't there he said "of course the girls weren't there" he said it like he knew that they weren't going to be there. I think that he did not regret his decisions at all, and thought that this is a new start.
