This blog post created in anticipation of a panel on undergraduate work and research in the digital humanities creates many questions and ideas for discussion at the panel. The author invites others to share input in hopes of turning it into a discussion to bring forward to the panel at the 2013 Digital Humanities conference. Among these questions and ideas are questions of the best way to incorporate project-based digital humanities research approaches in the undergraduate classroom as well as designing curricula to incorporate Digital Humanities into the coursework while still including traditional humanities disciplines.

This future course at a University wants to show how the human and the new machine are used for research and teaching. This class is designed to prepare students in the humanities and social sciences that use new ways of thinking, teaching and learning. Their hoping with showing how online learning better educates students that it transforms higher education making it more meaningful to the present and future. After students have finished this course they will leave with many e-portfolio projects, public online writing, multimedia and collaborative productions.

Cohen blogs about the future that he sees for The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). His passion sees to lie in collecting data and content from small, local libraries and museums. He still holds this goal despite recognizing the issues they would face in attempting to convert the material from physical to digital. He also talks about the technical layout and the best way to get it into peoples' hands (incorporating it into an app). He also touches upon technology that we do not have yet or is not yet out of the beta testing stage, and could be in the future of DPLA.

Sean Sherlocks speech at Digital Repository of Ireland, and international workshop, addressed the funding provided by sponsors. He states that they will use the funds to create multiple PhD positions specifically allocated towards the digital humanities and it's future in Ireland. He believes that these positions, and all research in digital humanities, well aid Ireland in becoming socially and economically an international powerhouse. He believes that work in the digital humanities will help create jobs, promote economic stability, and will put Ireland in the forefront of education.

Liberal arts education has a new cutting edge aspect that students from the Tri-College Digital Humanities initiative are exploring. Over a period of about four years they are using technology to adapt liberal arts to a networked world. New media components are being added to classrooms and students are forging ahead onto unchartered territory. Questions and research that has never been done before are being explored by these kids as they use their imaginations and curiosity to aid them in this unique journey.

This is the main page of O'Reilly's website. He is a member of PeerJ's board and has contributed to many open access journals. His focus within DH seems to be the technical aspects, but he his a huge advocator for open access. There are many videos on this page of interviews he has give, videos of his lectures, articles written about him, and articles he has written. His main page also spot lights workshops, conferences, and articles concerning the future of open access, technology, ethical uses of technology, and technological business philosophy. O'Reilly is an extremely active member in the technological world, and is also instrumental in developing the tone for open access.

The topic of Digital Humanities is discussed as a new teaching a research method. Since it is has been newly founded many people find it difficult to use and leave it to scholars and researchers to do most of the work. There are six factors that go into researching humanities that have been found also in researching sciences: publication practices, data, research methods, collaboration, incentives, and learning. By using this process one can easily understand Digital Humanities.

Richard E. Miller, an English professor at Rutgers University, gives a presentation to the Rutgers University Board of Governors on Digital Humanities. He argues that the English department is moving towards that of Digital Humanities due in large part to the internet becoming increasingly involved in English and humanities education. His presentation defines and discusses Web 2.0 (the web as used for creation rather than just research) and how the use of things such as Wikipedia, blogs, etc. are pushing everyone towards creation-mode on the internet. Through this presentation, Miller hopes to convince the Board of Governors to allow for the creation of a Digital Humanities department at Rutgers University.

The EBBA Archive is a website with a specific goal in mind in regards to 17th century broadside ballads. The site seeks to make 16th-18th century fully accessible as texts, art, music, and cultural records. Basically the main objective of the EBBA is to transcribe these broadside ballads into usable means that are open, accessible, useful, and applicable to the public.

The English Broadside Ballad Archive is a database of 17th century ballads. These ballads are made available on the website in the form of texts, art, music, and cultural records. The purpose of the database is to preserve the estimated 8,000 surviving ballads from this era for future generations to discover and study again. Several universities have teamed up to work on this archive, include the University of Texas at Dallas.

The Creator is a film that personifies computers in the future to ask where it is they came from and trace their lineage back to a man named Alan Turing, who first asked the question, "Can Machines Think?" After the viewing of the film top computers scientist will have open discussions concerning the questions and concerns this film brings up.

This article attempts to survey the history and turn up the evidence of who actually invented the internet. Who were its' pioneers? And what was the driving force behing it all, what is the history here?

This blogger was asked to create a website over the papers she had been digitizing. Creating a website entailed knowing how to code it, which she had to learn. Her study shows that having the students build a website adds to their learning process and gives them new ways to think. It also allows the students to collaborate with their teachers that can further engage their research process by adding new questions or finding multiple audiences. The future of Digital Humanities lies within the graduate students and how they are being trained so that they can find better and easier ways to teach the younger generation.

The HathiTrust Digital Library is a partnership of research institutions and libraries working to securely preserve historical collections to be accesible long into the future. These collections are open access, and include a wide spectrum of cultures across a variety of different time periods. The partnership has been recently engaged in legal disputes regarding alleged copyright infringement in their Orphan Works Project. In addition to basic access to many of the collections, the HDL offers search functions within the documents that allow for new uses of the texts, such as text mining.

Alan Lu and William G thomass III are humanities chairs with a long involvement in digital issues who have experienced budget cuts in regards to digital technologies, which are driving changes in higher education. They believe humanities faculty members, chairs, and adminstrators right now have a choice. This choice consist of taking no systematic action on the digital humanites front, and to let the long term digital future build for them. The other option is for humanities faculty, chairs, and adminstrators to plan how to intergrate the digital humanities systematically throughout the different departments.

The NDIIP (National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation) twitter account tweeted a link to a video featuring Kari Kraus giving a speech titled "Phylogenetic Futures: Big Data and Design Fiction" at Big Data & Uncertainty in the Humanities hosted at the University of Kansas. Kraus spoke about the application of digital humanities to phylogenetics, or the study of evolutionary relatedness between various groups of organisms. She presents phylogenetics as a part of the big data segment of digital humanities. Her speech details the applications of phylogenetics in digital humanities through examining cultural materials.

The article explores the visions and expectations associated with the digital humanities. The author also explains how the digital humanities often becomes a laboratory as well as a means for thinkining about the state and the future of the humanities. It has been argued that this forward sentiment comes from both inside and outside the field of the humanities. This idea creates an important leason for the attraction. The author outlines a visionary slope for the digital humanities and he also offers a personal visionary statement at the end of the article to make it more serious.
