I loved using this site to help my students practice skills in reading and math prior to completing science practice. Unfortunately the science test is testing reading comprehension as much as it tests science. If students are great at hands on experiments but cannot associate a paragraph of written material to the hands on activity, then they will not do well on FCAT Science. FCAT Explorer will help with those skills prior to science lessons.
FCAT Explorer is a free, online educational program for Florida's students that reinforces reading and math skills outlined in the Sunshine State Standards.
On this page, you will find resources to help students connect science content to things they can see and experience. Videos, Interactive Explorations, and Interactive Videos engage students and encourage them to explore more on their own with your help.
Help your students develop 21st century skills while exploring global themes. The Innovative Teacher Toolkit provides whitepapers, customizable lesson plans, and technology tools to reinforce skills such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, assessment, and organization.
I have used this in the classroom before and think that it has some great information on historical events put in terms younger children will understand.
I know other people have posted Ben's Guide, but here's the K-2 section of the web site, which includes games and activities, as well as additional links and resources for the students. I particularly like the subtopic about "My Neighborhood," as it is relevant to what I will be teaching my students in my own classroom and I love supplemental material!
Ben's Guide to US Government, K-2. Includes sub topics relevant to the grade I teach, including "Your Neighborhood." Website also includes games and activities, lots of visuals and videos, and also additional resources and websites for the students to explore.
An intruiging search engine provided by google that allows you to search for one topic (ex: fractions) and gives you books, translations, videos, 3D explorations and more.
Key Takeaways A university-wide survey on students' mobile learning practices showed that ownership of mobile devices is high among students and that tablets are the most popular devices for academic purposes. The survey also found that mobile learning typically occurs outside the classroom, with only limited guidance from instructors.
This is a great resource for creating centers and improving reading instruction. Although this is not an interactive website, it is very user friendly. The website can be searched by grade level or by reading component. You can print out the resources, laminate them and save yourself a lot of time for making center activities.

This article explores and discusses research in faculty's literacy of technology and their aptness to incorporate technology in their curriculum - Very relevant to this week's WAR2 assignment on technology and pedagogy!
A web site for students and teachers to explore. Young students can explore the virtual world of Dr. Seuss through activities and games. Also, teachers can integrate lesson plan activities related to Dr. Seuss books (ex. Earth Day lesson plan using the The Lorax).
Great website for K-6 Educators for enrichment and supplemental materials for Science and Social Studies. Students can use the site to explore information that is formatted in a fun and easy-to-read way. Or, they can use the site to play games, take quizzes, look at photos and maps, look up crafts and recipes, enter contests, and more. Teachers can use the site to project on an interactive whiteboard for quizzes and whole-class games. I like the site because it is culturally-rich and informative, yet kid-friendly.
This website has some great information for parents and teachers on how to teach children how to spend and save wisely. The website also features several games and other interactive sections for students to explore and learn more about money. This is a good website to allow children to explore as a center activity or as a whole class.
