Professional development is important - we should try to continually learn and grow as teachers - so good thing the FL Dept of Education website has a page listing some upcoming conferences and workshops (http://www.fldoe.org/JustForTeachers/conferences.asp). This, however, is a FREE webinar called "Preparing Teachers to Implement the Common Core State Standards." It is next Tuesday, Jan 29 2013, from 1:00-2:00 PM. I'm not sure if it will be archived for later viewing.

This is the section of the Minnesota Dept. of Education's website called "Educator Excellence," furnished with resourses to help educators succeed such as Early Learning Resources, Professional Development and Teacher Programs. Worth taking a look at to compare with FL Dept. of Ed's website.

An awesome resource to share with students! As a teacher I regularly refer to Bloom's Taxonomy when I am planning or developing questions for my students to ponder and respond to. This resource provides a great explanation of the thinking processes that the learner should experience at each of the levels in the taxonomy. The chart offers sample questions in very student-friendly language. This will be helpful as I encourage my students to stretch their questioning and thinking from the knowledge level through the higher levels.

Digital Storyteller is a web-based tool that offers teachers and students frictionless access to digital images and materials that enable them to construct compelling personal narratives. Digital Storyteller was developed as an initiative of Primary Access. You can enter this site use guest login without registration.

This website (www.teachervision.com) offers several professional development resources for teachers, such as Teaching Strategies, Assessment Resources, Portfolios, Classroom & Behavior Management Strategies and Tips, and etc. This article in particular discusses how to create effective learning centers within the classroom.

This user-friendly resource presents grades 3-5 teachers with a logical progression of pedagogical actions, classroom norms, and collaborative teacher team efforts to increase their knowledge and improve mathematics instruction. Focus on an understanding of and procedural fluency with multiplication and division.

I have used this website in Kindergarten and am excited to see that there are plenty of resources I can use for second grade. The NCTE is composed off dedicated teachers who share their resources, strategies, and best practices with others. You can enjoy the benefits of being a NCTE member by enrolling in the membership. Many of the resources are free and can be used in the classroom. There are lesson plans and student interactives to use for any subject on a computer or smart board. The great thing about this website is that parents and children can access it at home for after school resources. There is community involvement and professional developments that one can attend.

Great website for educators to access royalty free clip art, lesson plans, clip media, and presentations.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format.
