Digital Citizenship - What does it mean to our students? - Parents as Partners - 0 views

  • One of the barriers to using Web 2.0 tools is the poor understanding of the learning opportunities for using the tools, as parents, teachers and students individually and collectively.
  •
The need for action is highlighted in this article by an edublogger. There is a mention of the Advocates project.

Free Logo Design - Logo Maker - 0 views

  •
Website that lets you make logos. I could picture students using this to design logos for their projects. I often have my team design a logo like a crest to represent things about the team. It forces them to think deeply about what they want their team to do.

Discover What is Pangea Day and how film unites people to build a better future - 0 views

  •
The Pangea Day Mission & Purpose Pangea Day is a global event bringing the world together through film. Why? In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it's easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that - to help people see themselves in others - through the power of film. The Pangea Day Event Starting at 18:00 GMT on May 10, 2008, locations in Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro will be linked for a live program of powerful films, live music, and visionary speakers. The entire program will be broadcast - in seven languages - to millions of people worldwide through the internet, television, and mobile phones.

Marking What Counts and Reporting on Report Cards | Pair-a-dimes for Your Thoughts - 0 views

  •
We can't fundamentally change our report cards in a truly meaningful way until we change what we consider important first. However, assessment itself is the greatest impediment to meaningful change in education. Standardized tests are about 'counting marks' NOT 'marking what counts'.

Licensed To Pill: We live in an over-prescribed (and over-labelled) society. | Pair-a-d... - 0 views

  •
I think this fits with the idea of us living in an over-prescribed society… every teacher has met a kid that 'needs' medication to 'fit into' the classroom, but I wonder how much of this is an issue of placing square pegs in round holes? At what point do labels hinder rather than help?
