Mr Rowland's Physical Education Posterous! - I wouldn't say I was the best teacher in t... - 0 views

  •
Example of a teacher posterous blog - instead of teaching them how to blog, just let them use their email!
  •
Doug Belshaw is encouraging his teachers to use posterous to communicate to students and parents. Literally, they send an e-mail to posterous and it creates a blog automatically for them. This is an example of a PE teacher. Now this is cool. DON'T teach teachers how to blog - use something they already know, email and just have them email it instead. Now how is that for a great idea!

Seven Habits of Highly Connected People by Stephen Downes, Guest Contributor ... - 0 views

  • Posting, after all, isn’t about airing your own views. It’s about connecting, and the best way to connect is to clearly draw the link between their content, and yours.
  • When connecting online, it is more important to find the places you can add value rather than to pursue a particular goal or objective.
  •
People will connect & stay connected to you only if you provide some value (entertainment, knowledge, skill, resources, personality) for them.

Clark-Kozma: Debate Reemerges - 0 views

  • Assigning too much influence to media can lead to the design/ development of sloppy, ineffective instructional materials that are accepted by technologists and users simply because they utilize CBI, interactive video, or other 'high-status' delivery media. Assigning too little influence to media, on the other hand, may discourage reflective thinking by designers about which media can best convey the instructional strategies needed to achieve instructional objectives (p. 6).

Ross (1994) provides a really good middle ground position between Clark and Kozma.

  • There are some hopeful signs. President Obama recognizes that we urgently need to invest the money and energy to take those schools and best practices that are working from islands of excellence to a new national norm. But we need to do it with the sense of urgency and follow-through that the economic and moral stakes demand.

Mrs. McConnell's Blog: My Top 12 Reflections on 2012 pt. 1 - 4 views

  •
Sandy McConnell has created a nice set of reflections for 2012, something I think all admins should want their teachers to do, where she shared her views, what she has done, and how she's improved. Such retrospection on a year is a powerful way to mark learning and remember. She's done so many things, but particularly I like how she didn't let the fact that she was temporarily laid off stop her from learning and moving forward. IF you're having a tough time, you might want to read what Sandy is and has done. She inspires me. Wow. I"ll link to all of her sets, because I"d like you to read them all.
