Vizerra is a very interesting project that has great potential for use in World History and World Geography courses. Vizerra provides downloadable 3D models of famous places. All of the models offer users a tour of their selected site. Currently, there are five models and tours available on Vizerra. Vizerra aims to have a total of thirty 3D models and tours available for download by the end of 2009.

Very interesting app if you're using Edmodo and have ipads. Here's what it will do as per the company who contacted me:
"It's a versatile mapping tool for creating timelines, and an assessment platform for Edmodo users.
myHistro Extended in a nutshell.
- What makes it better than other apps out there?
Its comprehensive digital archive with stories created by historians. An unique way of generating tests. Hassle free and easy grading system and evaluation of students' answers."
MAny teachers are using Edmodo and Timelines are important prewriting and graphic organizing tools. I'm very fascinated to see how this works and will see if there is someone out there using it so we can link to it from my blog.
- Who's it for?
Teachers. First and foremost History, Social Studies and Geography teachers. And for everyone else, who are looking for innovative ways teaching their subjects through dynamic storytelling.
- What is the coolest feature?
Generating tests with a few clicks. Removing the location, time, description or/and the title from all the public stories, and forming it into tests.
This is a wonderful site from the University of Salford in the UK. Listen to soundscapes which have been recorded all over the world. Navigate on the map to find a place of interest, listen to the recording and read the information about the location. Upload your own soundscapes using the site or download the iPhone and iPad app at https://itunes.apple.com/app/i-say/id516927213. It's a useful geography resource and should get your students thinking about the sounds around them.

A beautifully made search engine for old maps. A great resource for history and geography projects. Just scroll or search the location and choose the map you wish to view.

This site has been a wonderful source of discussion ideas in my class, especially in philosophy sessions. This site has an archive going back to 2007 of over 1,000 fabulous question that will get your class (and you) thinking and discussing. You can even submit your own brain bouncing questions to the site.
