What is MirandaMod? MirandaMod is an informal, loosely structured unconference of like-minded educators to share ideas about the use of technology to inspire others. This will be the first of what we hope will become a regular feature in the MirandaNet calendar. It is likely that MirandMod will usually (but not always) be a fringe event following or attached to a formal MirandaNet seminar/workshop or meeting. It is hoped to establish an International dimension to this event Historically; Mod comes from the Gaelic word for a gathering, assembly or parliament.*

Should the web be filtered in schools? If yes then where is the line? David Gilmour (East Lothian) First, all social s/w sites are not the same. Distinguish blogs/wikis from Bebo etc as a first step. Next establish that Web2 is now mainstream. Queen, GB have Youtube sites, not just happy slappers. Have a paper I did on this... Ben Plouviez (Scottish Government, personal capacity) Some very random thoughts: this is an area where I think we should make waves, and I'd like to understand more about how filtering works (or doesn't) in local authorities and schools.

  • Welcome to the Classroom Google Earth wiki. I would like this space to be somewhere that allows students, teachers, and other colleagues to share classroom based resources and ideas for Google Earth. I will kick it off with this. Lots more to come! Why not contribute! I would love to know how you are using GE in your classroom.
