Education2020 UNCONFERENCE
2020 Vision: What should education look like in the year 2020?
On Friday 12th of June 2009 we are holding an unconference on this theme.
What is MirandaMod?
MirandaMod is an informal, loosely structured unconference of like-minded educators to share ideas about the use of technology to inspire others. This will be the first of what we hope will become a regular feature in the MirandaNet calendar. It is likely that MirandMod will usually (but not always) be a fringe event following or attached to a formal MirandaNet seminar/workshop or meeting. It is hoped to establish an International dimension to this event Historically; Mod comes from the Gaelic word for a gathering, assembly or parliament.*
The aim for the lob10 unconference is to explore some of the core issues that underpin active learning approaches. A key outcome for the event will be the drafting of some principles to inform the future design of outdoor learning events. A second aim will be to explore how simple and effective we can make formative feedback in an outdoor desk-free setting
The 'unconference' approach to professional development, TeachMeet, involves short, sharp demonstrations of one technology, showing its whole potential in no more than seven minutes. We then reverse engineer what went into the product of the students' learning, leaving plenty of time to play and discover new skills. Crucially, we leave time at the end for planning your new skills into your next period of teaching and learning.
At BarCamp, a group of enthusiastic people gather to share their knowledge about technology and anything else they are interested in. They do this by attending presentations given by other attendees - and giving presentations themselves, of course
