    Great article Molly. I had the opportunity to go through a two-day training with the DuFours this past fall. IN their workshop, just as in this article, they stressed these two ideas: 1) emphasize learning instead of teaching, 2) hold teachers (and admins, and students) accountable for the learning. As DuFour states in this article, "Professional learning communities judge their effectiveness on the basis of results."

    I also had the opportunity to go through a training with the DuFours, but for three days last summer. I felt their were spectacular. Communication and problem solving are also important aspects of PLCs. #EdTechSN

I have not spent enough time listening to our EdD students, so thank you for bringing this presentation to our attention.

    Hi Cinnamon. I love this blog post on connectivism and personal learning environments. Perhaps my favorite part was the inclusion of strategies recommended for incorporating connectivism into the classroom. By having students join professional networks or survey others online, they are able to build knowledge through the social interaction that characterizes social media tools. These examples really helped me to visualize the way connectivism could work in a classroom. Thanks for sharing!

The analogy of comparison from connectivism to a spider web and allowing the individual to form their own path while utilizing it was great in terms of putting this into perspective.     The author discusses what connectivism is and some ways to apply it in the classroom. I really liked the way the author related connectivism to a spider web. The more connections you have to the material, the stronger your knowledge web will be.

    Great article and very practical! I liked the suggestion of creating an assignment where students reach out to their existing social networks about a specific topic of interest. They would use their network for surveying popular opinions or crowd sourcing information. I think that it would be a very safe and effective way of using social networks in the classroom.

    This Twitter account belongs to a Principal at Kurt Hahn EL School in Brooklyn New York.  While this may not be thought of as using, social networking in education, I say it is.  Education is not just about classrooms and lessons, it is about about community and parents as well.  Keeping the community, parents, and students up to date on happenings at the school and profiling teachers and student achievements is an important part of education.  This is a great way to use Twitter.
