Prezi is an online tool used to create presentations; it can also be downloaded to create presentations offline that can be uploaded later. It's a blank canvas that you craft with images, text, and videos.
  •
Prezi is a site that allows you to create presentations online. It has an option for you to do this without purchasing a subscription. It allows you to turn these presentations into video format. You can also view existing presentations made by others.

Prezi is a very interesting presentation application that allows the developer to present in a nonlinear fashion. This would be a very useful tool for teaching some concepts that require the application of feedback loops or to show the big picture of a given concept. I chose this presentation application to present because of the different application and also the ease of video introduction. Video is very difficult to use in PowerPoint and since Prezi allows for easy youtube introduction then I thought this would be the great application for multimedia development. http://prezi.com/index/ There is a very good basic tutorial that shows how to get started with prezi at the following site. http://prezi.com/learn/getting-started/

My media specialist introduced my students and me to Prezi a couple of months ago. This is a great way to present your ideas over the standard Power Point presentation. Prezi allows you to tell your story or share ideas by creating the presentation on a large canvas. You then link one idea to the next including: text, images, and videos. This allows your audience to see the big picture and the individual details.

Prezi is a web based power point presentation with a twist. It is easy to use and FREE. I would encourage my workshoppers to use this tool to have students create the steps of learning a dance. This would be a great way to present the knowledge that they have acquired by using the Wii Just Dance program. I might also suggest that they use it to have students create and teach their own warm-ups.

This site is a great resource to post presentations (PowerPoints, Word documents, PDF...) which may be too large to share on a blog or in an email. I n my workshop, participants may access videos, presentations and files with ease, as well as create their own log in to post their own findings and creations.

Authorstream - 3 views

authorSTREAM is an online tool that will convert timed or narrated PowerPoint presentations to video and retain most settings applied to the original slide show. Also, the videos can be downloaded or posted to various locations online and linked to via blogs, wikis, and other Web sites. Learners can benefit from the variety of features offered such as retaining transitions and special effects to capture attention and the use of video and narration adheres to dual coding principles. By combining those features, complex material can be presented in a manner that assists learners generative cognitive load. I found this tool to be better than others given its simplicity and the fact that it retains transitions and animations. The overall quality of the output is quite good also and the use of the tool is fairly straight forward.

Like most online tools, authorStream gives you the ability to upload your PowerPoint presentations to unique URLs for collaboration with your fellow classmates. The tool also has an option for embedding your presentations into other social networking sites. One great thing about this tool is its Free.
  •
This is an excellent place to download and publish the power point presentations. Also you can convert it to Video without lost the Presentation features. Easy to use and very friendly.
  •
authorSTREAM - authorSTREAM is a wonderful site that converts power points to share giving each presentation a unique URL that can be accessed via the internet. These presentations can be sent via email, or embedded in websites or blogs. After the presentation has been converted to video it can then be upload to sites such as You Tube. This site also allows presentations to be viewed live with the ability to discuss it live also. Most importantly to me, it is free.
  •
AuthorStream allows for Power Point presentations to be imported into a web-based format continuing to include animations, audio narrations, and in-slide videos , converting them into a video. It also allows users to communicate with others to receive feedback and collaborate on ideas.
  •
Authorstream is the hosting site for uploading and storage of PowerPoint (PPT) presentations. Participants can then download these presentations as video for editing into one seamless presentation of a mixture of PPT and video for uploading to YouTube or other video hosting site. This is initially a free site for users, but you will find it soon necessary to pay the annual Authorstream Pro fee of 30 dollars or $2.50 a month that is, if you want to convert PPT presentations to video formatting. Authorstream offers other significant options in the Pro package that helps you do plenty more with your PPT creations. This is the best suited site for supporting Microsoft PPT for it is user friendly and quite common.
  •
Like Google Presenter, Authorstream allows users to upload and share presentations. This can be used by instructors to assess student integration and generative learning. Authorstream allows users a public space for broad distribution and visibility of their shared presentation. This is important for students as they prepare to leave academia and enter the professional world. In addition, students can easily embed and share their presentations in blogs and other social media. Finally, Authorstream more easily integrates audio and animation when compared to other online presenting formats.

This video provides an introduction to student response systems for teachers who are unfamiliar with clickers and how they can assist a teacher in the classroom. The video explains various aspects of clickers and provides demonstrations on the different aspects that teachers can use in conjunction with the clickers. Many teachers are not familiar with technology; therefore, they need extra support and help when incorporating new technology into the classroom. The video explains various aspects of using student response devises. The video is more technology centered than learner centered. The emphasis is placed on using technology to modify or enhance a lesson. Mayer, (2009) explains the technology centered approaches are not always the most effective. The learner needs to be the focus of the lesson not the technology. This instructional video focuses on the technology and not the learner. The video explains various aspects but many viewers might feel overwhelmed when listening because they do not understand the terminology.

Technology in Education - 0 views

The following presentation was presented by the PBS in the state of Iowa. Information included within the video describes how technology is being used in the classroom at a state university. Because this piece is presented from an editorial perspective, the focus is on the positive and negative aspects of technology in the classroom. For the multimedia workshop that I am building, the information enclosed focuses on both the learner center approach and technology centered approach. Data is shown visually and provides an education to those with whom the information is being presented.

Digital Students @ an Analog School - 1 views

The following multimedia presentation represents students at a University that are expressing the "analog" learning available and their need for digital technology. I find this presentation to be an interesting representation of what students feel they need in order to learn in today's society versus what the university feels is an acceptable means of education. The focus of this article is technology-centered.

Pre-Training: Video Critique - 0 views

Prior to beginning training it may be necessary to activate one's background knowledge or make connections to more complex material. TeacherTube is a great resource for educators to use to collaborate and reflect on activities from teachers around the world. In this example, participants from a PD course for teaching with ESOL strategies will watch and reflect upon how interactive activities (such as Reader's Theater) help the ELL make meaningful connections to text. Later on in the training, participants will name the specific examples from the course and how they were applied in the video.

Pre-Training - 1 views

This is a great tutorial on basic computer skills for participants who are uncomfortable using the computer. In order to use clickers in the classroom, one must be familiar with the computer. Some individuals that may complete the workshop are still unsure on how to use a computer. The video provides visuals and screen shots for the viewer to see how easy tasks are on the computer. Mayer (2010) explains essential learning as of understanding due to not having a sound previous understanding of a concept. The website helps the user create a graphic organizer. There are step by step instructions to guide the user through. By completing the tutorial, the participant is being pre-taught and gaining the basic knowledge to help then continue through.

Authentic Assessment - 0 views

  •
The video explains the importance in performance based assessment. Performance bases assessment is the most appropriate for the multimedia workshop on clickers. Participants in the workshop need to demonstrate that they know how to effectively use the clicker sin the classroom. The video reinforces the need to make students demonstrate their understanding of the content by actually "doing". The instructor must communicate with the participants the expectations of the assessment and the grading procedure. Performance based assessment also lets the participant see if the mastered using clickers. Essential material takes advantage of pre-teaching the content and helping each individual is at least on the basic level. The video explains the importance of authentic assessment in the classroom. Teachers may not be familiar with authentic assessment; therefore, they cannot successfully create an authentic assessment for a workshop or a classroom. The video meets essential learning because the viewer becomes efficient on understanding authentic assessment. The video serves as a pre-teaching and tutorial devise.
