An online tool that I have used in the past that can be used to assess the workshop is survey monkey. This tool allows the individual to create questions and present them to a group electronically. The basic survey monkey web based tool is free. For additional fees, individuals can pay for advanced reporting features.

In order to measure the workshop and what individuals that viewed the workshop believe may have been learned, authentic assessment may be necessary. Think of this as a rubrics or tool that measures how well a student has done on an exam. This is our way of measuring our success for the workshops. The first example is a rubrics that an instructor created for blogging. Although it is not the focus of my workshop, it is an excellent example.

For the workshop this term, I would like to try a new media format for the workshop. I plan to use the wikispaces site that I mentioned previously to host the product, however, I think I would like to use xtranormal.com for the presentation. It will be interesting to use animation to present ideas and also to educate my daughter with so she has a different way to present her ideas to teachers and classmates on future projects. A new tool, what could be cooler?

I attempted to use the following web based mind map at one time, but it was not beneficial for me. However, because each individual has different preferences and/or tastes, I think this is important to share. Additionally, I cannot rule out the use of a web based mapping tool. The fact that this product is web based means that I or anyone can log in from any computer (depending on web permissions) and create a mind map.

There are various tools out there that allow individuals to post a layout to his/her presentation and/or workshop. If one is looking for a basic outline tool, Power Point and Word are sufficient. The next link leads individuals to a mind mapping tool that I have used in EDUC-8847 and others at Walden University. This interactive tool allows the individual to post thoughts on a subject, any subcategories, and so on and so forth.

Another tool that can be used for pre-training is a blog. There are many blog sites out there where individuals can post ideas and journal on various topics and subject matters. Individuals can lend a hand to other projects they are working on by providing direction to colleagues via the blog. Here is the link to a current blog I have created for EDUC-8848.

I have become more familiar with different presentation software during my Doctoral adventures and have not found any one particular model that is easier than the other. Many of us have created Power Point presentations in the past to present ideas to a class or for a meeting, however, with the number of tools now available, it is important to find tools that break the boring ppt. of yester year. The following is an example of a video presentation I completed for a previous course at Walden University. The presentation was created using IMovie on my IMac.

Technology in Education - 0 views

  •
The following presentation was presented by the PBS in the state of Iowa. Information included within the video describes how technology is being used in the classroom at a state university. Because this piece is presented from an editorial perspective, the focus is on the positive and negative aspects of technology in the classroom. For the multimedia workshop that I am building, the information enclosed focuses on both the learner center approach and technology centered approach. Data is shown visually and provides an education to those with whom the information is being presented.

Lexington County Schools Instructional Technology and Powerpoints - 0 views

This link shows how a County has incorporated Power Points into the classroom through common distribution. Instructors and others can access the power points for utilization in the classroom. Power Points, in my mind, are primarily focused on a learner-centered approach. I plan to incorporate this material as evidence of how schools are incorporating technology into the classroom through the means stated earlier

Digital Students @ an Analog School - 1 views

  •
The following multimedia presentation represents students at a University that are expressing the "analog" learning available and their need for digital technology. I find this presentation to be an interesting representation of what students feel they need in order to learn in today's society versus what the university feels is an acceptable means of education. The focus of this article is technology-centered.
