Information Communication Technologies in Science Education The aim of this wiki is to provide a useful set of ICTs and other tech tools for Science Teachers to utilise in their classrooms. Each type of technology will be briefly explained and a classroom example will also be attached, together with a comprehensive list of links.

A wiki that has a good App section organised by Key Learning Area. Join in ... "How could we possibly use these in Education? Hopefully, with a bit of help from some iPod savvy educational enthusiasts we will find out. So please feel free to add to the discussion."

Wikis for Everyone

This is a fantastic web 2.0 tool. Upload images and annotate. You can other embed media inside the annotations. Annotations pop up as you click or hover over the objects you add. You can embed the annotated image into webpage or blog. This could be a useful tool for teachers and students. Lots of scope for creativity with layers etc. You can share to a group and set editing permissions for public or restricted people/groups for collaboration purposes.

Wes Fryer's great Scratch resource wiki has tutorials video and an assessment rubric.

The toolkit provides a space to explore, discuss and share examples of the use of open media at all school stages and at all levels of education."

ThingLink helps you create and discover rich images. Be creative! Make your images come alive with music, video, text, images, shops and more! Every image contains a story and ThingLink helps you tell your stories. Follow image channels from your favorite bands, bloggers and friends. Your ThingLink interactive images form a channel that other users can follow. This looks great images can be annotated and embedded into a wiki or blog etc.

A nifty site for creating simple content and sharing it out. Easier than a 'Wiki' although the options for 'students' to use prior accounts, such as Google, seem to be absent. Also can't workout if you can lock it down and restrict its ability to be viewed. @Kellywalsh suggests that it is ideal for flipping the classroom.

Make: Projects is a living library for makers, a how-to community hosted by MAKE magazine. Here you can build something from our growing cookbook of projects, tweak existing projects to improve them, share your own step-by-step instructions, discover new ideas and techniques, and learn how to make just about anything. And it's a wiki, so everything is hackable. Connect with the collective smarts of the maker community!

A few months ago, two teachers, Santeri Koivisto and Joel Levin, decided to make the software more accessible and relevant to teachers. They joined forces to found MinecraftEdu and started offering discounted educator licenses to Minecraft. MinecraftEdu now offers a plug-in, which enables teachers to tailor the software to individual curriculum. And a fresh new wiki is dedicated to sharing ideas with topic suggestions such as "How To Use Redstone, (a fictional mineral) To Teach Electricity." Teachers can also work with others to co-develop lesson plans within the game software.

Rubrics are almost always a work in progress and most have strengths and weaknesses. As a result, on this wiki, a rubric may be used to demonstrate a non-example of a trait of quality rubrics but could be a quality example for a different attribute. Conversely, some of the quality examples may be lacking in other areas. We are using the rubrics to explore how to attend to details so we can ensure that any one rubric is as clear, explicit, and effective as possible.

Very useful wiki for people looking at introducing gaming into their classroom or school. Loads of examples of games that could be integrated into the curriculum. I am about to loose some time checking some of these out.
