SNApps4Kids is a volunteer community of parents, therapists, doctors, and teachers who share information on how we are using the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices with children who have special needs. We have found these mobile devices to provide accessibility for children who may have been previously disengaged from the world because of challenging language, motor, or other developmental delays. Given the rising number of apps on the market and the diverse skills of children with special needs, parents have found each other to be one of the best resources for choosing apps to enhance everyday life for our children. While our group is primarily parent-driven, our efforts are naturally collaborative with the people who help our children develop particular skills - therapists and educators.

Spotzi shows you the world in a unique and astonishing way. It not only shows you street maps and high detail areal maps. That's just a starter. Spotzi goes beyond any political border and zooms in to any aspect of our planet. This has been made possible by the extent data resources at NASA, the World Bank and our own data warehouse. By clicking the themes at the left you can start browsing for almost any theme you might be interested in. Locations of animals, temperatures on earth and the grand tectonic plates are just some examples of the thousands of themes available. It is all map based. Why? A map tells you more than a thousand words. Each theme has its own map and will be activated by clicking on the theme of your interest.

An updated publication designed to help training teachers on ways to optimize the use of information and communication technologies in the classroom has been launched early November 2011 by UNESCO in cooperation with the Commonwealth of Learning, Intel and Microsoft. The ICT Competency Framework for Teachers aims at helping countries to develop comprehensive national teacher ICT competency policies and standards, and should be seen as an important component of an overall ICT in Education Master Plan.

SciStarter will bring together the millions of citizen scientists in the world; the thousands of potential projects offered by researchers, organizations, and companies; and the resources, products, and services that enable citizens to pursue and enjoy these activities. We aim to:  Enable and encourage people to learn about, participate in, and contribute to science through both informal recreational activities and formal research efforts. Inspire greater appreciation and promote a better understanding of science and technology among the general public. Create a shared space where scientists can talk with citizens interested in working on or learning about their research projects. Satisfy the popular urge to tinker, build, and explore by making it simple and fun for people-singles, parents, grandparents, kids-to jump in and get their hands dirty with science.

This resource is often lost in time, only tiny snippets being captured in blog posts or summaries using tools like Storify, which often loose the richness of individual conversations between participants. It doesn't have to be this way. Using a combination of Google Spreadsheets as a data source and a simple web interface to add interactivity it's possible to let users explorer your entire event hashtag and replay any of conversations."

Teachers and students can use Gooru to search for rich collections of multimedia resources, digital textbooks, videos, games and quizzes created by educators in the Gooru community. Gooru is free (of cost and ads) and developed by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to honor the human right to education.

The trend line is very much suggesting that in time every school in the developed world will use some form of 'bring your own technology' (BYOT) school resourcing. It is not a question of if but when your school will make the move. The BYOT 'tsunami' is rapidly coming over the horizon.

As more teachers and students adopt new technologies, including Evernote, they're looking for useful resources to help them along the way. We're excited to introduce them to Evernote for Schools, our new microsite devoted to helping those in the education community use Evernote more effectively.

Like most people I have lost many hours to Google Earth. As a geographer and teacher I have been trying to find ways to incorporate this tool into the social studies classroom. Over a year ago I started making my own Google Earth files. Throughout the past year, my father and I have spent countless hours working through technical issues creating what you see today. There are a few more improvements that still need to be made (when in doubt refresh the browser), but it works and is there for you to enjoy. I offer this tool to all teachers who want to create cool and engaging lessons for their students. In return I would appreciate feedback on how you use this site and potential improvements. Required Resources: This site looks best with IE7 and higher, Firefox 3 ((FF4-FF7 Fix), and Google Chrome. You must install the Google Earth Plug-in (Free, but you might need your IT administrator to install) and have broadband access.
