Having a clearer shape of a problem is not the same thing as having solutions. It's important if only so we don't collapse in the face of a task that often seems insurmountable: making sense of how the current media environment prepares citizens to be effective civic actors. I'm hoping that naming and framing these problems can make the task easier for my friends on the Knight commission and everyone wrestling with this challenging tangle of problems.

Always a wonderful collection. But I would find it great if someone would one day to a version that would fit european standards and cultural references.

Free as in Freedom is a free book licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License about the life of Richard Stallman, written by Sam Williams and published by O'Reilly Media on March 1, 2002. Williams conducted several interviews with Stallman during the writing of the book, as well as with classmates, colleagues of Stallman, and his mother. The book has received positive reviews.
