All you have to do is type in the list of words and bam! at least 10 games are generated for the students! It also teaches and tests the students on the words. You can save the lists as a teacher and have students search for your lists or you can have students input their own lists without saving them.

A superb resource where teachers can sign in and input spelling lists for pupils to learn by playing games. Give pupils the link and they don't need to sign in to use it. Site only recognises US spelling when generating example sentences, but you can input your own easily. Free option should be enough for most users, but 'paid for' option is available. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/English

  • This family showed what a difference it makes when families do their share–and more.

"In the Scholastic-Gates survey of teachers, teachers were asked what they wanted most. The greatest number said they wanted families to be more involved. (What mattered least: longer school days and hours, merit pay). "

Learning In Burlington: Why School? Will Richardson Leads Us Towards Answers To This Critical Question - 0 views

  •
Will presents straightforward questions that we can present to parents and other stakeholders to help us make this much needed shift.  We need to help parents and community members engage in a narrative that will help them see clearly that the test scores that our country's education reform movement are focused upon "tell us little if anything about our children's chances for future success."

The author is my grandson ,Shane's, advocate. Without her he would be up the creek without a paddle.  Will My Child Grow Out of It written by Dr. Bonny Forrest is an important book for parents, educators and practitioners. The succinct, accurate description of learning differences and mental health issues is based on extensive research as well as personal case study experience. The topics discussed and suggestions given are realistic yet always positive. The expanded appendix provides resources for action, effective therapies for consideration and medications commonly in use. Most importantly there is a direct link to ProjectSkip, http://www.projectskip.com/. A special code is given for use of this tool, a first step in the decision of whether to seek professional help. While this book is an excellent resource for parents, it could also be an important textbook for educators as well as those studying in the field of psychology

For Some, School's Out Early for Summer - NYTimes.com - 19 views

  • “All of that is really what’s on parents’ minds,” she said. While many of her friends will not send their children to school on Monday, Ms. Capone’s three children, who range from a kindergartner to a third grader, will be there, even though for the past week “they keep coming home and telling me what movies they watched.” “Honestly, for me, it’s free child care,” she said, “and I can get in one last day at the gym.”

6 Ways to Use Cell Phones to Strengthen the Home-School Connection - 56 views

I especially am interested in the sending group texts to parents. Our school doesn't have an auto-dialer yet for emergencies or group events, and this would be one way to get the information out quickly. For teachers, what a great way to notify parents of urgent matters or upcoming events or needs.
  •
Pair that with Google Voice, where you can copy/paste text messages.
