Faces of Meth - 3 views

Good for Anti-Drug Education. Eight years ago, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office launched a campaign called "the Faces of Meth" to address Oregon's methamphetamine problem. The images showed the jarring effects of meth on addicts' faces through before-and-after pictures from their arrest records. Rehabs.com recently followed suit with this infographic. Warning: these images are disturbing.

I really don't know how I ever did anything without this program. It is perfect for scheduling student conferences, office hours, volunteer hours, sign-ups for presentations, etc. You set it up and provide the link. Those who want to sign up take over, they are e-mailed a google calendar and they are e-mailed a reminder automatically. EASY One of those "I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS FREE!" programs.

Zotero is an open-source program developed by George Mason University's Center for History and the New Media. You have to teach your students how to use it, but it is time well spent. They can create individual and group libraries, automatically create bibliographies and citations in CMS, MLA, APA, etc., and grow research skills. You can learn how to use this powerful free program by checking out the numerous free YouTube videos, or check out my step-by-step guide at: http://drkblog.wordpress.com/resources/using-zotero/

This is an excellent, well used, stable, secure grading program that is FREE. It includes some bells and whistles: Attendance, Weighted Assignments, Integrated Quiz and Discussion, Messaging, Wikis, Flashcards, and Calendar. The gradebook can be easily exported to Excel to upload into Banner, etc. It is available on multiple-platforms via app and web. My students take their quizzes on their phone, iPad, laptop. The perfect BYOD grading program. For School Systems, they offer a paid service where administrators and parents can see the gradebook.
