Terra Clues - 4 views

  •
Really neat Google Maps scavenger hunt site. Students are provided clues to put into Google maps or Google search. They then have to zoom in, use the satellite map, etc, to find the clue. This would be great for history/social studies type classes, but I could also see it being used in biology during the evolution unit. Perhaps as a scavenger hunt of places Darwin visited during his voyage on the Beagle, for example.

Great website with lesson plans and lots of multimedia covering basic chemistry topics. Though titled "middle school chemistry" much of the material can be referred to or used for basic high school chemistry or even biology (such as the basics on bonding, water molecules, etc).

VCU Life Science Videos - 109 views

  •
Life science videos from VCU covering topics such as evolution, genetics, biotechnology, research careers. I really like how the videos aren't just informative but focus on relevant or interesting topics, giving a real-world connection for students. For example, within the biotechnology videos, there is a focus on topics such as silk making, individualized drugs, tissue engineering, alternative transplants, etc. Videos tend to be short as well and won't take an entire period but can easily be incorporated into your lesson at any point.

Scienterrific Games - 128 views

  •
I love Scienterrific Games. At this site, you'll find a variety of games (board games, card games, etc) to use as review with your students. They are geared more toward high school, but all the typical high school sciences are represented. The owner is a former colleague who is a total inspiration to me. The games are not free, but are VERY reasonably priced. I have used several, and my students LOVE them.
