      Még egy kis adalék az általam látott dokumentumfilmből: a turistákat látszólag nem kísérik katonák, csak a két ,,idegenvezető", de akármerre mentek, minden hemzsegett a katonáktól. Lezárták az utakat, ügyeltek, nehogy kapcsolatba lépjenek a helyiekkel... Továbbá, mikor egy múzeumba voltak, ki volt állítva egy lezuhant amerikai vadászrepülő, melyet egy észak-koreai katona saját kezűleg lőtt le géppisztollyal. Természetesen a koreai háború kirobbantója déli szomszédjuk volt, az USA pedig kapitalista agresszorként van elkönyvelve.

The food is good, and you can't complain about that either. In a park he saw elder women picking up herbs, the guide said that it was for the rabbits, although it was clear that it was the kind of herb that the "owners of the rabbits" could eat.

      Pompás példa. Rés a potyomkin-falun. Az észak.koreaiak többsége az iparban és a mezőgazdaságban dolgozik, a tercier szektorban foglalkoztatottak száma elenyésző. Fontos a halászat szerepe, mely sokszor segíti ki az élelemhez nem jutók tömegeit: halak és kagylók, tengeri herkentyűk. A fenti példából kitűnik, hogy a hagyományos gyűjtögető életmódnak is akadnak követői a siralmas gazdasági helyzet miatt, noha a világ több országa küld folyamatosan segélyszállítmányokat, amiket azonban Észak-Korea fenntartásokkal kezel.
