This is an interesting and challenging examination of learning in the three ages of information by Bill Rankin. It looks at the role of information in learning and in shaping culture through Western history and the effect that access to information has had on education. I don't agree with everything that Bill says but he is affirming of the continuing role of teachers and librarians in this third information age.

This second article suggests some ways to use ipads for digital storytelling. It doesn't contain much detail but,as it is the first in a series, it is to be expected that more specific suggestions will follow in subsequent articles.

Digital storytelling is a great way to introduce students to the power of Web 2.0. There are many teachers and teacher librarians already using digital storytelling tools. This article provides some principles as well as ideas for using digital storytelling with students.

With due respect to Howard Gardner, there is not necessarily anything new here. Gardner's notion of synthesis is not far removed from Bloom and his concept of creativity follows the continuum set out by Cohen, with what appears to be references to Kaufmann's Four Cs of creativity. Certainly, the notion of lifelong learning is part of the character of the twenty-first century learner, while the need and process for evaluating information is at the core of information literacy. But this concept of synthesising and the effective evaluation and application of knowledge, is central to the teaching work of information leaders in the twenty-first century.

This site has excellent posters for teaching students in primary and high school about using technology responsibly.

This is an interesting post on how teachers and students can evaluate their technology use using the SAMR model of Dr Ruben Puentedura. The goal is to be using technology to create new ways of learning rather than just as a replacement for older ways of learning, researching, creating and sharing.

The edudemic page is about motivation but it explains how technology such as ipads can be used as an extension of Bloom's Taxonomy to provide choice and challenge for your students. The page has links to a Ted talk that explains the "padagogy" at the heart of this program.

There are lots of ways to find out about useful apps. for use in schools with ipads and other tablets. The OZTL-Net is one. Here's a website from the Victorian Education Dept. that provides lots of evidence-based information and recommendations about using ipads in schools and useful apps.

PLNs or Personal Learning Networks are one of the lifelong learning strategies that are enhanced through the internet. Will Richardson is a well-known commentator on digital education and this short clip and blog entry are a useful resource for talking with students about developing a PLN.

This YouTube video on Creative Commons licensing was recommended on the OZTL_Net. It's from New Zealand. It explains the different types of Creative Commons Licenses in a clear manner with excellent animation.
