Corrupt justice: what happens when judges' bias taints a case? | US news | The Guardian - 0 views

  •
The Justice System definitely has the potential to be corrupt, or at the very least, can be biased. What happens when the judge hearing a case has a personal bias against an important characteristic of the case?
  •
This article is eye opening, and really speaks to the power which corruption has, or possibly the corruption which power brings. This is just a small instance in cases where abuse of power and nepotism can really dismantle government. I fear our two party system absolutely fosters this type of behavior, and certainly not to make it political in any sense: it is frightening to understand the possibility. Great article.
  •
I definitely agree with this. There is absolutely corrupt justice. Money talks in this world and that is the sad thing.

  •

An article by Greg Mullenholz on the fact that education is a social justice issue within our society. He calls education "a dividing line between success and failure" and states that access to high quality teachers and education is a key component to helping students who are underprivileged to receive the future they deserve.
  •
This is an interesting perspective. I do believe education in America needs to be improved and the lack of action will cause America to become irrelevant in our modern era. I believe we need to reform our education system that is already in place and have families make it a higher priority rather than have the federal government mandate a solution.
  •
Education may be one of the biggest social justice issues because it is one of the main factors that determine a productive future instead of incarceration. The article states that "education was the dividing line between success and failure." There is a need for high-quality teachers along with equal opportunity for a good education among all different income levels.
  •
An article discussing the importance of education in society. The main idea is that under performing schools demand a certain skill set and access to funding in order to provide a path to success for their student base, and the unfortunate truth that this practice is not existent. School is the corner stone for the success of children and current standards and practices have created inequality across the nation
  •
Education being a social justice issue is nothing out of the norm. Education is not just about teaching common core programs but, it is also a place to teach kids and adults how to protect the dignity of humanity. Education is a huge dividing line between being successful and unsuccessful.

Foster Care Advocates | Foster Coalition - 0 views

  •
Many children are in foster care. There is a high volume of children who stay in foster care for a long period of time and sometimes "age out". Aging out is when the minor turns 18years of age and is still in foster care. The social justice issue is that these children have a higer chance of going to orison, human trafficking and pregnancy. We need to do something as a society to help these children achieve something in there life. There are so many children who still get abused in the foster system as well. What needs to be done to prevent this from happening? More home visits to foster homes, better screening, and maybe even just a all around better system.

political social justice definition - 3 views

Should everything be provided equal to all? The criminal justice system reformation. Social justice is such a broad subject.
  •
This sounds like extremely loaded wording and doesn't provide much fact at all. It's more a slandering and assertion of an opinion rather than a factual source. It could also be fairly offensive depending on who reads it.

Healthcare - 0 views

  •
Good health is intrinsic to a persons well being. Those who do not have access to decent healthcare cannot have the same opportunity at life as those who do.
  •
Health care plays an important role in society today and especially social justice issues. It is important that everyone is able to have access to healthcare not only for ones life but the society as a whole. However, sometimes the healthcare system limits individuals as to if they are able to have access to it when it should be a born right.

Studies Show Judicial Bias Against Dads - 0 views

  •
This article looks at the prejudice of the legal system toward men in child custody cases. Anti-father and pro-mother bias plays a part in a judge's decision to award full or partial custody. Gender bias is prevalent in our American Justice system, even when bound by a code of judicial obligations.
  •
Wow this article was very interesting and kind of eye-opening to me, I guess I never fully realized (until now) that this is an issue! Thank you for sharing this!
  •
I have thought this for a long time now. As women become more a part of the work force, more men are taking on the roles as the primary caregiver for children. because of this, I believe that the old stereotype that men are gone all the time and have no idea on how to be a caregiver is completely false.

Most of us don't think about the need for clean water; however 18 people die every hour from lack of safe drinking water. There is major inequality when it comes to access of decent water. If you have money, you have safe water. Impoverished people are not as lucky. It should also be pointed out that the privatization of water systems make it even more difficult for most people to have clean water.
