Our technology may afford a unique possibility in this endeavor by bringing disparate individuals together in an otherwise untenable community, yet it doesn’t enhance critical thinking or improve classroom performance, we do that, together.

    Many of the sites listed here were not available when we did our last list; although longevity is a mark of pride online, it is difficult for companies set up in the 1990s to reinvent themselves quickly enough to take advantage of new technologies. Although of course rapid change brings casualties too: it's possible that with all the economic turbulence going on that some of the sites here won't be around in a year from now, or that their now free services will have become paid-for. That doesn't diminish their usefulness, though; it just underlines their determination to survive.

    Denne rapporten er et ledd i forskningsprosjektet " Education, Curricula & Technology" ved Høgskolen Stord/Haugesund. Prosjektet støttes av Norges forskningsråd under programmet for strategiske høgskoleprosjekter rettet mot de statlige høgskolene ved Kunnskapsdepartementet. I kunnskapsløftet (2006) ble bruk av informasjonsteknologien skrevet inn i alle fagplanene, der IKT som hjelpemiddel ble fremmet som den såkalte "femte kompetanse". Denne rapporten bygger på den første landsomfattende undersøkelsen der lærere både i norsk, matematikk, engelsk, naturfag, samfunnsfag, kunst og håndverk, musikk og kroppsøving uttaler seg om undervisningsspørsmål generelt og om IKT spesielt. Rapporten beskriver hvordan lærere på ungdomstrinnet bruker digitale verktøy, hvordan de opplever informasjonsteknologien i undervisningen og hva slags betydning lærerne mener dette har på elevenes læringsresultat. Det er lagt vekt på å diskutere hva som er årsaken til at IKT blir prioritert ulikt mellom undervisningsfagene samtidig som en prøver å finne forklaringer på hvorfor det er ulik praksis innefor fagene.
