Stress In College: Common Causes of Stress In College - 0 views

  •
What I learned is that a lot of students do stress in college. In high school the parents and the teachers was more hands on than in college it is all up to the students to get to class on time and turn in the work on time. Social stress is a big factor with college students. Students have to deal with finding a roommate, having time for friends and school work. Some students have to get part time or full time jobs and deal with relationships. New students deal with missing home, staying up late studying and get all their work done on time. Some students that stress a lot may gain weight their first year if they don't know how to deal with all the stress coming their way. Only half of the students who go to college will graduate. Stress will make a lot of students drop out of college.

College Students & Eating Healthy - 0 views

Surprisingly, and sadly, according to a survey by Oregon State University, male college students eat more fruits & veggies than female college students per week. Even though they eat more, they still only manage 5 servings per week, compared to females, who only eat about 4 per week. The suggested # of servings for both males & females is 5-6 per day! In both males & females, 30% of their caloric intake came from fat.

It did not surprise me to learn that alcohol abuse is more prevalent among college students than non-college students, because when young people get together by themselves without any adult supervision the temptation to over indulge is there.
