College Students & Eating Healthy - 0 views

Surprisingly, and sadly, according to a survey by Oregon State University, male college students eat more fruits & veggies than female college students per week. Even though they eat more, they still only manage 5 servings per week, compared to females, who only eat about 4 per week. The suggested # of servings for both males & females is 5-6 per day! In both males & females, 30% of their caloric intake came from fat.

50 Weight Loss Tips for College Students - 6 views

I chose this article because obesity among young adults is an issue gaining major attention. I liked the relevant examples that the article provides to give students a clear connection between their daily habits and subsequent weight gain. The examples help to make the idea more tangible. Most articles written about excess weight are written in a formal tone or in such a way to scare the reader. This article was casual yet informative.

I picked this article because both my daughter and I are in college. She is about to start in the fall as a college freshman. She is attempting to not only not gain any weight, but to lose a lot. This article gave me plenty of advice that I could later give to her.

I agree with you Renae. Obesity if very common in our modern day and society. Most articles aren't capable of holding my attention, but this one could. As you said, the tone of it held my attention the whole entire time.
  •

I have to say that all ideas are great, but sometimes I can not manage it, simply i can't. Also, I did hear about freshmen 15 so I'm giving my best until this year passes.
  •
Some great ideas, here. I enjoy reading anything on nutrition and recently learned that on the healthy foods we eat, we don't need a whole lot, in fact, it just adds calories. I suppose I had the mindset that if a little is good for you then more is better. Now being able to follow the food pyramid makes more sense to me. Before, I couldn't even imagines being able to eat say five servings of vegetables per day. :-) Truth is, I was probably eating two servings at a time!

With students moving out that are not used to cooking for themselves, eating out can often be the end result leading to unplanned wait gain. This could surely come in handy for those that have been affected by that.

I chose this article because I could relate to many of the problems college students have of healthy eating habits. 5 Reasons College Students Should Make Time for Exercise - 0 views

Exercise is very important for everyone and especially college students. It not only keeps you healthy, but it actually helps with learning and staying focused. This article states that exercise increases focus and concentration, I wonder if that is completely true.
  •
1 . I selected this article because obesity is very serious issue affecting the world today. I have close family/friends who suffer from obesity and its take a toll on everyone especially that individual. Therefore exercise is essential in order to lose weight and reduce the obesity rate. 2. I can relate to it and could possibly educate others so they can go on and live a longer and healthier life. By exercising you can almost insure that you will reduce your health issues and possibly live even longer. 3. I would like to learn new and better ways to reduce the obesity rate, and the proper steps it requires to prevent this disease, so exercising would be one of the best methods in accomplishing these goals.
