An American woman who was also a former member of the US military was arrested in April and officially charged in July with conspiring to aid members of ISIS. She was arrested when trying to board a plane to Syria where she was planning to meet a Tunisian man and aid the groups in attacks. This story also cites another woman who was arrested on similar charges, it is one of many examples of Americans going abroad to join Isis.

After 18 months, 39-yr old reporter Jason Rezaian was released after 18 months of solitary confinement in Iran's Evil Prison. Rezaian and three other American detainees in Iran were released in exchange for clemency for 7 Iranians charged or imprisoned in the U.S. + dismissal of charges against 14 Iranians outside the U.S. Iran got 7 "guys back" essentially plus lift of charges against 14, while U.S. only had 4 detainees return home?

October 24th, marks the 300 day mark of the imprisonment of Al Jazeera journalist. The Al Jazeera journalist have been charged with "spreading false news, endangering national security and support a banned organization, the Muslim Brotherhood."

The article details the crimes Iranian hackers are being charged with, mainly D-DoS of financial institutions and intrusion into a dam's control system. The author of the article casts doubts on the likelihood that Iran will extradite the accused individuals, primarily due to all of the accused having ties to the Iranian State.

Following an attack on a museum in Tunisia, they plan to open a consulate in Syria and plan to renew their ties with the Syrian government. They state that this is so that they can track Tunisian militant fighters who have joined ISIS and to prevent them form any future attacks.

The arrest of Mr. Bani Rushaid took place in Jordan because the Muslim Brotherhood's senior leader criticized the United Arab Emirates. Rushaid, had apparently stated that the United Arab Emirates had been "sponsoring terrorism" and "questioned the legitimacy of its rulers." 

Tunisian military appeals court jailed blogger Yassine Ayari for 6 months for defaming the army. He was prosecuted over blogs he had written alleging financial abuses by army officers and defence ministry officials in a case. Ayari has alleged that he is being punished for blogs he wrote while out of the country. His family and supporters charge that his prosecution is a violation of newfound freedom of expression, which was one of the main gains of the revolution.

Five students from the Muslim Brotherhood are being charged with rioting and arson after being arrested in January. According to the report, the students associated with a terrorist organization set fire to a building in the engineering department of al-Azhar University in Cairo. al-Azhar is one of the oldest universities for Islam in the entire world.

The Egyptian parliament decided to criminalize FGM. The Child Protection Committee is now in charge of helping girls who are at risk of FGM. 

It is clear that Egypt needs to take greeter actions in ensuring FGM is completely banned. Rothna Begum is a women's rights researcher who focuses on the Middle East and Africa. The doctor claims to have done the procedure other medical purposes other than FGM. 

George Orwell, the author of the famous novel 1984, is trending on Twitter after a student was arrested while carrying a copy of the book. Egyptian on social media seized on the perceived irony of the situation and a well known journalist remarked, "that the book is now more popular than ever in Egypt." The reports however may be false and the Giza Security Directorate, General Mahmoud Farouk says the novel had nothing to do with the arrest. Instead it is reported that the student was carrying materials supportive of the IS. The charges against the student remained unclear.

Tunisian security forces arrested 21 individuals suspected of being involved in the deadly attack against the Bardo museum. The two women I just posted about were released from prison. They were held in prison for 2 months. The charges were unclear but some believe they were linked to the women's social media accounts in regards to being female rights activists.
