Interesting resource search/compilation project from a Google employee. The site is still in alpha form, but it has potential to bring together different resources from across the web easily.

Creating student portfolios for access later is a very big market and three ring offers one way of doing it. Simple image upload with custom tagging. 

More PhET simulations for high school science and some for math. The simulations are embeddable in BB but require a java download file to run. It is important to make sure students would be able to download that file. 

Great tool for creating dynamic timelines. Easy to use with great examples. Here's an example that a teacher uses with his English class http://mhsenglish10.wikispaces.com/Early+Am+Lit

Creates a graphic of words based on several criteria, can be used to create a graphic of vocabulary from a chapter or a graphic of tags from a class delicious account. Not an end all site, but great way for students/teachers to present a list of topics in a unique way during a presentation. I can see using this to help create a word wall activity using the interactive whiteboard.

Nice resource for ISNs implementation. I like her powerpoint presentation. Nice, simple explanation. Good resource to go to, to get started. No explicit math connections

Here's the emerging Top 100 Tools for Learning 2009 list, where you can compare the rankings of the tools with the last two years. Note, by "learning" we mean both formal and informal learning.

Pixton is a comic creation tool that has been passed around the education blog-o-sphere quite a bit lately. Pixton has a drag and drop interface which allows anyone regardless of artistic ability to create comics. Recently Pixton introduced Pixton for Schools which allows teachers to create private rooms in which only their students can create and share comics. For the record...this is an implementation point, a discussion starter. Those of us that provide staff development around instructional technology have identified a need to share more than just tools with teachers. To evaluate them based on Bloom's Taxonomy is simply a way to connect the tools to those that would be identified with the Affective, Psychomotor, or Cognitive domains--specifically the Cognitive. The visual that you see here is the seed of discussion.

Easy to use graphing utility. No adds easy to setup different windows, graph multiple functions.

* "Picturing the 1930s," a new educational web site created by the Smithsonian American Art Museum in collaboration with the University of Virginia, allows teachers and students to explore the 1930s through paintings, artist memorabilia, historical documents, newsreels, period photographs, music, and video. Using PrimaryAccess, a web-based teaching tool developed at the university's Curry Center for Technology and Teacher Education, visitors can select images, write text, and record narration in the style of a documentary filmmaker.

Yet another list of web resources. Relatively up to date and comprehensive. Worth looking at if you want choices for tool usage.

On September 8, the U.S. Department of Education will ask students to respond to the President's Back to School challenge by creating videos, up to two minutes in length, describing the steps they will take to improve their education and the role education will play in fulfilling their dreams. Watch this page for more information about the "I Am What I Learn" video contest for students.
