Wink is a Tutorial and Presentation creation software, primarily aimed at creating tutorials on how to use software (like a tutor for MS-Word/Excel etc). Using Wink you can capture screenshots, add explanations boxes, buttons, titles etc and generate a highly effective tutorial for your users.

Interesting classroom management software that is using the social networking model to make classroom commnications stronger. It is in Beta, so I encourage teachers to check it out to see if it adds anything to your classroom environment. 

Screencasting tool. It's free and relatively easy to use.

WorldWide Telescope is Microsoft's answer to Google Earth and Google Sky. It's pretty cool and does a lot of stuff that I don't understand but am sure someone interested in astronomy would love. I look at it and think about using the zooms of planets to have student calculate the size of some features knowing the scale. It's not utilizing the total power of the software, but it gets me in the door, makes it a cool activity for the students, and creates a little love to science in a math class. i can live with that!

This is a great presentation. If you want to see how the best thinkers in the world are presenting their data, then take a look at this presentation by Hans Rosling. I think this presents a challenge to math teachers to have students look at data differently than we are now. I think the data on the income and child mortality rate is incredible. Such a powerful data set and it's a linear relationship!!

Powerful topic, poverty and patterns in data relationships over time, WOW. Hans Rosling uses some incredible statistical software to present the data, but the idea can be mimicked using some PP type technologies and creating graphs. The topic of poverty is explored in a very easy understandable way; I think high school students would understand the topic and love the idea. Make sure you listen to his use of the databases, and remember he is one of the premier statisticians in the world. He is changing how he presents data, and I think we need to listen to his message on this topic.

The United States General Services Administration (GSA) and the White House Open Government Initiative are soliciting your feedback on a concept for next generation citizen consultation, namely a government-wide software tool and process to elicit expert public participation (working title "ExpertNet"). ExpertNet could: Enable government officials to circulate notice of opportunities to participate in public consultations to members of the public with expertise on a topic. Simple tool, but easy to use and nice for building some quick examples using the IWB. There are other ways of doing it using Smartboard software, but kids can use this tool, create some examples, do screen captures, and share with each other or in docs.

These templates require the Smart Notebook software, Kidspiration. Inspiration,Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer and KidPix to use. Most have a preview for you to decide if it is something you would like. I would suggest creating folders on your desktop called SmartNoteBookTemplates, InspirationTemplates, and KidspirationTemplates. You can then save the templates in the appropriate folder for later use.

GeoGebraWiki is a free pool of teaching materials for the dynamic mathematics software GeoGebra. Everyone can contribute and upload materials! All contents of this pool may be used free of charge.

A collection of 279 Math Applets designed by International Education Software. Apps show individual concepts from multiple perspectives, usually conceptually from a diagram and graphically. Not very dynamic in that students wouldn't be able to manipulate multiple variables, but great to use with an interactive white board to show connections between representations and to confirm calculations/predictions.
