On Hacking - Richard Stallman - 0 views

  •
"Richard Stallman's personal site. https://stallman.org For current political commentary, see the daily political notes. RMS' Bio | The GNU Project On Hacking In June 2000, while visiting Korea, I did a fun hack that clearly illustrates the original and true meaning of the word "hacker". I went to lunch with some GNU fans, and was sitting down to eat some tteokpaekki (*), when a waitress set down six chopsticks right in front of me. It occurred to me that perhaps these were meant for three people, but it was more amusing to imagine that I was supposed to use all six. I did not know any way to do that, so I realized that if I could come up with a way, it would be a hack. I started thinking. After a few seconds I had an idea. "

Social effects of rock music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  •
"The popularity and worldwide scope of rock music resulted in a powerful impact on society. Rock and roll influenced daily life, fashion, attitudes and language in a way few other social developments have equalled. As the original generations of rock and roll fans matured, the music became an accepted and deeply interwoven thread in popular culture. Beginning in the early 1970s, rock songs and acts began to be used in a few television commercials; within a decade this practice became widespread, and rock music also featured in film and television program soundtracks"

"By Marc Gauvin Copyright © 05/2015 Reproduction expressly granted provided attribution is given and original link is provided. Qua ab initio non valent, ex post facto convalescere non possunt. (what initially is invalid cannot be made valid subsequently) With the upcoming threat of Greek default and the panic that will ensue this article is critical. Understanding the real nature and full scope of money and finance is crucial, as in doing so, we see how artificial the crisis is and why there really is no valid criteria or logic in the proposed austerity."

GM45 chipsets: remove the ME (manageability engine) - 0 views

  •
"This sections relates to disabling and removing the ME (Intel Management Engine) on GM45. This was originally done on the ThinkPad X200, and later adapted for the ThinkPad R400/T400/T500. It can in principle be done on any GM45 or GS45 system. The ME is a blob that typically must be left inside the flash chip (in the ME region, as outlined by the default descriptor). On GM45, it is possible to remove it without any ill effects. All other parts of coreboot on GM45 systems (provided GMA MHD4500 / Intel graphics) can be blob-free, so removing the ME was the last obstacle to make GM45 a feasible target in libreboot (the systems can also work without the microcode blobs). Copyleft - Wikipedia [Stallman, The GNU Manifesto 1995] - 0 views

  •
"An early use of the word "copyleft" was in Tiny Basic's distribution notice "@COPYLEFT ALL WRONGS RESERVED", however, Tiny Basic was not distributed under any form of copyleft distribution terms so the wordplay is the only similarity. The concept of copyleft was described in Richard Stallman's GNU Manifesto in 1983 where he wrote: GNU is not in the public domain. Everyone will be permitted to modify and redistribute GNU, but no distributor will be allowed to restrict its further redistribution. That is to say, proprietary modifications will not be allowed. I want to make sure that all versions of GNU remain free."
