Welcome to Online@UCF WHAT IS OFFERED ONLINE FROM UCF? Online@UCF offers four undergraduate degree completion programs, twelve graduate degree programs and twelve graduate certificates, plus hundreds of courses every semester from most academic areas. UCF also offers extensive resources and support services for students over the Web. The academic credits you receive are the same as credits received for face-to-face classes held on our various campuses. UCF's online programs are described in our Guide to Online Programs, and individual courses are listed in our online course search utility, and in the online catalog maintained by the Florida Distance Learning Consortium..

UCF Learning Online is a website for students who are considering online learning, registered for online courses and need help, or for students who are just curious about the online learning resources available for their consumption.

UCF Learning Online Website has information for students who are taking an online class. The topics covers: is online for me; I've registered, now what; and are there resources to asist me.

The Online@UCF Support provides immediate and personal support for faculty and staff who offer online Webcourses@UCF. Supporting a wide range of online faculty needs, Online@UCF Support offers phone, e-mail, and scheduled face-to-face support sessions, as well as group workshops throughout the academic year.

They worry about the quality of online courses, say teaching them takes more effort, and grouse about insufficient support. Yet large numbers of professors still put in the time to teach online. And despite the broad suspicion about quality, a majority of faculty members have recommended online courses to students.

Teaching Online is a website that provides resources for UCF faculty who facilitate online courses.

UCF Teaching Online Website is the one-stop shop for all resources that you need to know about teaching an online course at UCF. It provides information on pedagogy, professional develoment, resources, forms, and system status.

The Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, helping institutions and individual educators improve the quality, scale, and breadth of online education. Sloan-C supports the collaborative sharing of knowledge and effective practices to improve online education in learning effectiveness, access, affordability for learners and providers, and student and faculty satisfaction.

A prerequisite to the use of computer mediated communication (CMC) when facilitating online instruction is access to a high level of computing power and a reliable telecommunication infrastructure. After saying that, I want to emphasize in the strongest way that when developing and delivering instruction, whether online or not, the use of technology is secondary to well-designed learning goals and objectives. What distinguishes online instruction from entertainment or recreation is the purposefulness of the designers and developers in provoking certain intelligent responses to the learning materials, context, and environment.

You can share your presentations online on the web through authorPOINT Lite, by uploading to authorSTREAM (see how), a free online presentation sharing platform, and to WiZiQ (see how), a free online education platform. authorPOINT Lite is Microsoft® Windows® Vista® compatible and Microsoft Office® 2007 compatible. You can also directly share your PowerPoint's on these servers, using aP Lite's PowerPoint plug-in, for which the conversion to flash outputs is done on these servers.

Welcome to Quality Matters Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. Sponsored by MarylandOnline, Inc, Quality Matters has generated widespread interest and received national recognition for its peer-based approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement in online education. Originating from a FIPSE grant, Quality Matters is now a self-supporting organization offering institutional subscriptions and a range of fee-based services including Quality Matters-managed course reviews and an array of trainings.

MERLOT is a leading edge, user-centered, searchable collection of peer reviewed and selected higher education, online learning materials, catalogued by registered members and a set of faculty development support services. MERLOT's vision is to be a premiere online community where faculty, staff, and students from around the world share their learning materials and pedagogy.

The National Repository of Online Courses (NROC) is a growing library of high-quality online course content for students and faculty in higher education, high school and Advanced Placement*.

Webcourses@UCF Learning Online Orientation

Center for Distributed Learning The Center for Distributed Learning is part of the Division of Information Technologies & Resources, and serves as the Virtual Campus for the University. The Center brings focus to University efforts in distributed learning by providing administrative support for online credit courses, degree programs, and activities offered by the University. Distributed Learning at UCF includes instructional delivery technologies such as interactive television and Web-based instruction that provide services to nontraditional, distant, and campus-based students. UCF now offers over two dozen totally Web-based degree, degree-completion, and certificate programs.

The Instructional Technology Group (ITG) provides immediate and personal support for faculty and staff who offer online Webcourses@UCF. Supporting a wide range of online faculty needs, ITG offers phone, e-mail, and scheduled face-to-face support sessions, as well as group workshops throughout the academic year.

Welcome to the Sloan-C Effective Practices site. To help make quality online education accessible and affordable for anyone, anywhere, at any time, the Sloan-C community shares techniques, strategies, and practices in online education that have worked for them. All effective practices are peer reviewed to both insure quality and to give submitters some documentation for tenure and promotion files.

Webcourses-News - This announcement-only listserv notifies all Webcourses@UCF users when there is an event effecting online courses, such as maintenance times. Webcourses - This opt-in general discussion listerv is for users to communicate with each other about what they are doing in their online courses. List activity varies and members can unenroll themselves at any time.
