Center for Distributed Learning The Center for Distributed Learning is part of the Division of Information Technologies & Resources, and serves as the Virtual Campus for the University. The Center brings focus to University efforts in distributed learning by providing administrative support for online credit courses, degree programs, and activities offered by the University. Distributed Learning at UCF includes instructional delivery technologies such as interactive television and Web-based instruction that provide services to nontraditional, distant, and campus-based students. UCF now offers over two dozen totally Web-based degree, degree-completion, and certificate programs.

Learner-centered education places the student at the center of education. It begins with understanding the educational contexts from which a student comes. It continues with the instructor evaluating the student's progress towards learning objectives. By helping the student acquire the basic skills to learn, it ultimately provides a basis for learning throughout life. It therefore places the responsibility for learning on the student, while the instructor assumes responsibility for facilitating the student's education. This approach strives to be individualistic, flexible, competency-based, varied in methodology and not always constrained by time or place.

The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning is your host for your Academic New Faculty Orientation. The one-and-a-half-day event is scheduled for August 17-18, 2009 in the Student Union and Classroom 1 buildings on the Orlando Campus. Each day of the orientation is filled with important activities that will provide valuable information to enable you to have a successful start to your career at UCF. At the Academic Orientation you will meet the President, Provost, Deans, Chairs, Directors, and other new faculty. These days also include breakfast and luncheon events.

The Faculty Center at UCF was created to serve faculty. Their primary mission is to support and promote faculty in their roles as teachers, researchers, scholars, and as members of UCF and the Central Florida community. Their services, resources, and events are available to all university instructors, including full-time and part-time faculty and graduate teaching assistants.

Media Access Generator (MAGpie) Version 2.0.2 (OS X) and 2.0.5 (Windows) are now available Developers of Web- and CD-ROM-based multimedia need an authoring tool for making their materials accessible to persons with disabilities. Welcome to Quality Matters Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. Sponsored by MarylandOnline, Inc, Quality Matters has generated widespread interest and received national recognition for its peer-based approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement in online education. Originating from a FIPSE grant, Quality Matters is now a self-supporting organization offering institutional subscriptions and a range of fee-based services including Quality Matters-managed course reviews and an array of trainings.
