This website demonstrates how one Canadian high school science teacher has organized her website (thanks to her IT husband...) as a functioning platform for her students to complete DI assignments and interact with one another.

While this particular teacher's website makes my head spin, it does provide an idea of how I can make my own School World site more interactive as well as design my own site as a platform for students to refer to throughout a unit.

"You can use Google Images to search the web for images that have been licensed under Creative Commons or  GNU Free Documentation licences (GFDL).  Images licensed under Creative Commons or GFDL are still subject  to copyright, but the creator or copyright owner has chosen to allow other people to use their material under certain  conditions. These images can be freely used in teaching material, as part of research publications, on blogs, wikis  and other websites, and in University publications.  Not all images on Google images are available under Creative  Commons or similar licences; this guide explains how to limit your search to Creative Commons and similar  material." Then the rest goes into how to search Google Images, and how to give proper attribution. It's a tutorial walking you through step by step.

AnswerGarden is a new minimalistic feedback tool. Use it as a tool for online brainstorming or embed it on your website or blog as a poll or guestbook.

This year our coaching experiences ranged from nervous anticipation to almost feeling like we knew what we were doing. The redeeming facet of our task was that so many of our peers benefited from the collaborative efforts from each house/team, the grade level, and throughout the school. I love how everyone contributed something different to your Chronicles. It really showcased all the resources that are out there to fit every personality and teaching style. Your presentation showed that the collaboration process works! I love the animation---I'm going to have to try that.

The topics are standards-based and of global interest. Each project is designed to be used as is or customized to your classroom's needs. An easy way to find a classroom with which to partner is to check the "Connect with Classrooms" forum on the project index page for posts by interested classrooms. Topics include holidays and festivals, digital storytelling, spanish, global warming, habitats, weather, and natural disasters.

List of projects that make use of global connections to study various topics for late elementary to middle school aged students. I love how the project calendar lays out a specific timeline for when to introduce concepts and exchange emails. The website provides a forum to find cooperating classrooms. The possible pitfall could be not finding a class to exchange ideas.

This website introduces the educators who have developed the concept of a "flipped classroom", where direct instruction takes place at home and work that would traditionally be assigned to do at home is now completed at school.

This website is an amazing collection of global wildlife migration for several different species within different animal kingdoms. I really like how many resources there are for each area of study. Teacher resources are provided to integrate with reading and writing as well as the social science areas. I became particularly interested in the Gray Whales Migration because it has many terms 4th graders need to know. It also dicusses the migration of whales in their science book. I think it would be neat to share what we learn with others as we move through the project and monitor the migration of the whales. Places that are along the coast may actual get to see and report a sighting. We can share through our class blog and perhaps find other classes to skype with. One pitfall I see is the amount of time that could potential go into this project. But, it would be worth it.
