  • Videos uploaded to YouTube are scanned against a database of files that have been submitted to us by content owners.
  • When Content ID identifies a match between your video and a file in this database, it applies the policy chosen by the content owner
  • Monetize: If ads that you did not enable appear on or before your video, the content owner has applied a Monetize policy.

Tattoo artist sues THQ over UFC Undisputed 3 | Polygon - 0 views

  • Chris Escobedo, owner of Elite Tattoo, claims that the lion tattooed on welterweight fighter Carlos Condit's side was an original creation.
  • "I would not have agreed to the recreation of the tattoo by an animator,"
  • According to Escobedo's lawyer, tattoo artists have full rights to their work, unless a written contract specifies otherwise.

  • The Hangover 2 featured Mike Tyson's facial tattoo on one of the movie's main characters, sparking a lawsuit from the tattoo artist responsible. Although the case was settled for an undisclosed amount, A California District Court judge suggested that a win was likely.
  •
This article discusses the qualms of art ownership and license agreements. After a tattoo has been applied onto a person, who retains that tattoo's ownership? One would argue that the tattoo belongs to the wearer, but it would seem that might not be the case. In fact, having the rights to feature the likeness of a person is no longer enough if that person has a tattoo. That person's body being considered a canvas of sorts and therefore allowing the tattoo artists to retain their creative rights.

This article brings up a good point when discussing the negative ad positive sides of media convergence. I agree with certain points from both sides. On the negative side I agree that not all voices are taken into account, only those with access to new media. On the positive side I agree that the input that is given from voices heard helps improve services and generates awareness.

Rheingold talks about how his University students were not network literate, and that he made the assumption that they were. This article suggests that media literacy should be taught in grade school.
  • As our technology evolves, and our streams become even more packed with tweets, articles, videos, pictures and posts, the concept of media literacy evolves with it.
  • To be a functioning member of today's digital society, one must not only be able to use social networking and online publishing tools, but must also be able to think critically about all forms of media.

  • says that 27% of internet users download or listen to podcasts.
  • This requires that podcasters have the opportunity to make at least part of their living from their productions. It means podcasting has to go from being a hobby or an activity promoting some other media venture to being an end in itself.
  • Another important development was the launch of the Midroll podcast advertising agency.

This article talks about how 2013 was the years for podcasting. There are a number of factors that play in the rejuvenation of the podcasts popularity. Riismandel first says that the popularity came back when main stream comedians started use the podcast medium as a way to share their comedy with their audience. This brought back a big audience, but comedians can't be thanked alone. In order for podcasting to maintain this growth it needs to become sustainable, meaning people need to make profit from their podcasts. The launch of a podcast advertising agency did just that. This is good news for the future of podcasting because it is now a business instead of a hobby. Another point Riismandel makes is that the ease of accessibility to download podcasts via apps has helped with the growth it has seen in 2013.
