Often we search for meaningful ways to integrate digital technology in project based learning activities given to our students. We also would like our students to develop a thorough understanding of the concepts underlying the work - after all this is the purpose of the project. Giving students the opportunity to complete and present their project through a digital lens has one great advantage - student engagement. This in turn causes students to develop a more in depth understanding of concepts.

LiveBinders is a web 2.0 tool which provides the ability to save and organize materials for your science or math class. The great thing about this free tool is that you can update the resources instantly to ensure your lessons include the latest ideas, tips, and resources in science and math.

Great Google resource

Wild Sanctuary is a great resource that allows users to listen to the "sounds of nature" as recorded around the world. Wild Sanctuary offers Google Earth and Google Maps files of placemarks containing audio recordings from around the world. Each placemark features a recording of the sounds of nature (birds, waves, rivers, mammals, etc.) made at that location.

Teleport around the globe with this excellent Google mashup (via @DanBowen) I can see this working as a lesson starter for creative writing or in geography (obviously). Probably lots of other ways to use it too. It's great fun.

It is good fun, but if I were to use it in a science lesson say, what kind of animals live in this habitat, I'd spend 15 mins teleporting until I found somewhere decent. You would have to be quite lucky to get somewhere which isn't some generic street with fly-tipping and doubleparking.

Literary podcasts are a great way to hear about new stories and explore all of your old favorites. This list details where you can find some of the most popular literary podcasts, including podcasts based around classic literature, poetry and contemporary works.

Social networking in education is a flattener, this breaks down barriers that would otherwise exist between the student, the program and the instructors. This also makes information on demand as long as there is a good way to find that information that students will work with and use. Reliance on the old static school room or black board computer system is not necessarily the way that things are going. Education 2.0 should be breaking down these barriers, and it is great to work for a school that is doing this, because it is all about how people learn, and if people learn, then we are doing our job.
