Canadian study regarding Idiopathic scoliosis. Idiopathic scoliosis affects 2-5% of adolescents. Study will compare the quality of life, functional outcome, cosmetic result, and the correction of spinal deformity of two instrumentation systems for the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Study is to find out the outcomes of using the PASS LP System to correct adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. This system is a unique set of spinal instrumentation used to surgically correct the rotation and deformity of the spine that is caused by scoliosis. Also, this study wants to find out the effects this system has on the physical appearance and quality of life for patients with scoliosis.

The study concluded that after Neonatal resuscitation (RP) courses, the number of patients with perinatal asphyxia and with no resuscitation and also the duration of hospitalization decreased significantly, whereas the first minute Apgar scores increased significantly.

Study to determine if the drug 17-hydroxyprogesterone caproate can help reduce the risk of preterm delivery in women with certain risk factors for preterm birth. We hope to learn whether this same medication can be used to prolong pregnancy in a group of patients in whom this medication has not been previously studied. Specifically, we hope to learn whether progesterone supplementation will delay delivery in women with pre-term, premature rupture of membranes (PPROM).

NIH PubMed Abstract - Testing range of motion in cerebral palsy. Objective of study was to To propose a standardized test of joint range of motion in paediatric patients with cerebral palsy, based on the opinion of a cerebral palsy specialist group (physicians, physiotherapists and surgeons) and literature review. Study concluded that a standardized testing of lower-limb-joint range of motion will allow for better communication between clinicians and will facilitate the development of a database. Care should be taken in the interpretation of the joint range-of-motion test results and realized only after reliability analysis of the test, especially interobserver reliability. A further step would be to develop an outpatient booklet for cerebral palsy that shows growth and weight curves, joint range-of-motion curves and curves of the principal radiographic measurements during growth.

Study will examine abnormal co-activation in distal and proximal muscles to evaluate the characteristics of the loss of selectivity of the motor command in mobile vs. fixed dystonia. We will also study possible cognitive and limbic components of the disease, examining the influence of cognitive and emotional loads on movement production.

Completed study on Motilin, a peptide, whose action is controlled by motilin receptors located in the gut. Action of Motilin at motilin receptors increases the gastric emptying rate (rate of emptying of food and fluid from the stomach). Compounds which stimulate motilin receptors therefore provide a potential approach to the treatment of a range of clinical conditions where delayed gastric emptying may contribute to symptoms, such as enteral feeding ntolerance (post-operative or intensive care patients), gastroparesis, diabetic gastroparesis, and functional dyspepsia. This study is the First Time In Human study for the motilin receptor agonist, GSK962040.
