NHLBI ARDS Clinical Network web site. This site was established to provide information to the public on ARDS and the ARDS Network. In order to hasten the development of effective therapy for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Heath, initiated a clinical network to carry out multi center clinical trials of ARDS treatments. The goal of the Network is to efficiently test promising agents, devices, or management strategies to improve the care of patients with ARDS.

The National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN) is a group of individuals involved in birth defects surveillance, research, and prevention. It was created to establish and maintain a national network of state and population-based programs for birth defects surveillance and research. The Network assesses the impact of birth defects upon children, families, and health care; identifies factors that can be used to develop primary prevention strategies; and assists families and their providers in secondary disabilities prevention.

The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.

NICHD Neonatal Research Network and Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health, initiated the Neonatal Research Network to conduct multi-center clinical trials and observational studies in neonatal medicine.

The North American Clinical Trials Network (NACTN) is one more way that the Reeve Foundation is moving promising therapies from the lab to spinal cord injured patients. NACTN is working hard to insure that any clinical trial will be done in a way that maximizes both patient safety and our ability to gather valid, meaningful data. NACTN is an international network of hospitals with highly trained personnel and uniform protocols and data collection that help to ensure safety for all trial subjects and interpretable trial data

The Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) improves FDA's understanding of problems with the use of medical devices so that the FDA, healthcare facilities, clinicians, and manufacturers can better address safety concerns. The MedSun Web page is a newsletter-based website which provides monthly updates about timely medical device issues that may impact patient safety. This website also provides public access to de-identified reports 2 sent into the MedSun program, in addition to important safety information to MedSun participants and to the national clinical community about reported problems.

Congenital heart defects occur in approximately 40,000 infants in the US each year and are a major cause of infant death. Acquired heart disease can cause death and long-term disability.

Most children have a preconceived notion that every day of summer should be exciting and adventurous. Children with special needs are no exception. Determining how to manage that day-to-day challenge can be exhausting for parents of a special needs child, especially when you factor in possible accessibility issues that may arise for children in wheelchairs or with mobility challenges.

When a child with cerebral palsy is unable to attend school, parents may opt to have the school come to them. By law, Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) is a program that must be offered to students who are unable to attend a regular school program due to a physical or emotional condition. Normally, these programs are offered for a short period of time, but in some cases are appropriate for long term education.
