PDFs Become Contextually Amazing With Scribd's Apture Integration - 0 views

  • Above, you can see an image of my screen while reading a PDF titled The Internet of things: Networked objects and smart devices. I highlighted the name of a company quoted in the report and with two quick clicks I was watching a YouTube video of a product demo. I highlighted an expert's name and was able to learn all about their career and find them on Twitter - without leaving the page.

With the new player, you can now not only watch immersive, 360-degree YouTube videos, you can also navigate the video by dragging your mouse. As TechCrunch rightly described it last year - it's like Google Street View for video.
  • YellowBird says its original player was customized specifically for this project into an embeddable widget which also contains social networking links, a 2D (unwrapped) version of the video and a link to buy the album from inside the player.

Schoology Aims to Fix One of the Greatest Pain Points of Education - 0 views

  • Schoology is a startup that seeks to address many of the pain points of the LMS: Schoology is easy to use. It's free. It offers data portability. It encourages communication and collaboration with look and feel of contemporary social networking sites rather than the bulletin boards of circa 1996. But it isn't simply a social networking tool. Schoology provides the functionality of its big name competitors - Blackboard, Moodle.
  • Most LMSes isolate students in their particular courses. And once that class is over and once a student has graduated, the information contained there - notes, lessons, assignments, discussions - are lost. Schoology blends a social networking interface with learning management tools, so that teachers and students (and parents and administrators) can communicate and collaborate on academic issues.

True. I personally feel it is very important to cater to your desired audience and not risk our audience missing certain fuctions or informations in the website.
  • Internet Explorer 9 has topped all other browsers in conforming with the HTML5 specification, including Google Chrome and Firefox,
  • W3C pitted the just-released version of IE9's developer platform preview against Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari, evaluating the five browsers in dozens of tests across seven categories of features
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • IE9 scored 100% in five of the seven categories, including audio, video and XHTML5. Chrome scored 100% in four categories, whereas Firefox and Opera scored 100% in three categories and Safari did so in only two
  • despite excitement over HTML5, the specification may not be ready for prime time. A W3C official recently said it's too early for Web sites to deploy HTML5 because of interoperability issues.

Why You Need A Mobile Learning Strategy by Bill Brandon : Learning Solutions Magazine - 1 views

  • It is a mistake to try to implement a full "course" as an mLearning application, or to think of mLearning as classic asynchronous eLearning but on a smaller screen. In order to avoid this, designers must think through their instructional strategy (how to effectively combine the various modalities and platforms) and their implementation strategy (it may be better to start with performance support via mobile than to start with delivery of instruction). You can get a lot of help in this effort from the Mobile Learning: Landscape and Trends report itself. It will give you unbiased information about the issues, the tools, and the experience of many organizations as they implement mLearning. In the next two weeks, Learning Solutions Magazine will offer features on implementing mLearning. On June 14, The Guild’s Thought Leader Seminar will feature Gary Woodill, speaking on “The Mobile Learning Edge: How Learning on the Move Can Be A Competitive Advantage.”
