I have been getting a lot of questions about the Apps we have on our iPod Touches at school, so here you are:

The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students

The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and goal directed (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments.

Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells.

The iPods are used to reinforce/extend instruction, provide extra practice, and conduct research. 

the pilot team has met with a trainer from the University of Virginia several times and will be meeting with him throughout the school year to further their knowledge and expertise with the Touches. 

Plans for the future include the pilot classroom teachers receiving iPads to better model processes for the students, and iPod Touches for all of grade 4 and 5 students in the coming years.

These tools are all free, easy to use, easy to access and can be used in any subject at any age to enhance the learning experience.

Styling HTML 5 is really no different than styling HTML 4. There are a bunch of new elements, but styling them is basically the same as styling any other element. They generate the same boxes as any other div, span, h2, a, or what have you.

Google Latitude has allowed its 10 million users to see on a map approximately where their friends are. But until now, it provided no way for a user to pinpoint his own location with a check-in, a la Foursquare and others. Now users will be able not only to broadcast their exact location to their friends on Latitude but also to publicly share their check-ins through their Google Profile. They’ll also be able to garner “VIP” and “Guru” status based on the number of their check-ins. This is rather ho-hum news, considering so many other check-in services do much the same thing. But where things get interesting is that Google will allow users to automatically check themselves in to specific locations, without having to whip out their phone.

Philipp Schloter, chief executive of developer Abukai, said that looking for individual killer apps is the wrong way to approach augmented reality."This is really more of an enabler that sits across many different areas," he said. He was backed up by Peter Meier, founder of Metaio, the company which makes the Junaio ar browser app. "I always see augmented reality as a new user interface technology, and less as something for which there's the killer app out there," said Meier."For me, this is about accessing and understanding information more easily, and enjoying information that is somehow related to the real world ... I don't think there's a killer app. This is more like the next touchscreen for mobile phones – more like the next user interface revolution."
