I vividly recall sitting in my son's Spanish classroom during an Open House back in 2011, listening to the teacher explain how they reviewed vocabulary and grammar during class. She reminded us of the importance of finding opportunities for students to listen to, and even better, speak the language outside of class.

A flipped classroom is a classroom that swaps the arrangement of knowledge imparting and knowledge internalization comparing to traditional classroom.In the flipped classroom,the roles of teachers and students have been changed and the class time should have a new plan.Information technology and activity learning construct an individuation and cooperative learning environment for learners to create new learning culture.Based on the analysis of literature of flipped classroom and some typical cases,we summarize a flipped classroom teaching model.We also describe the challenges in the implementation of the flipped classroom teaching.The paper provides an innovative way to reform teaching in Chinese schools.

A very recent article, published August 2016. from Vanderbilt University website. This paper praises on the idea of the benefits of the flipping classroom across disciplines (humanities, economics, sciences, etc.) This article can lead to think beyond those disciplines and to deepen into the already going research on this subject applied to World Languages.

Tenth grade ESL literature class, and how the teacher changed his mind about flipping a classroom.  I wonder how he deals with access to technology- if that is an issue students face.

This was very interesting for me to read and made the flipped classroom model seem purposeful and useful in an ESL setting. I also worry about access to technology though...thanks for sharings!

An interesting look at Synchronious learning elements.

I started using Storybird last year, and I love it. It is great to teach fantasy writing and to reinforce the elements of fiction. Using the sample stories for ESL students sounds like a great idea!
