Explanatory video and description of how students use slideshows/presentations to "go deep": "a very simple tool, with a low 'barrier' to entry (e.g., easy to train students to use), and with a very significant outcome for students - a rich, well, designed presentation with deep written information. Kids will find it 'cool' to have the computer 'speak' their words, so that's a nice hook too."

Uses a course wiki for planning lessons and presentations. Student-teachers post a version of their lessons and then discuss in workshop, later using the wiki "comment" function. Students then revise their lessons and resubmit for evaluation by the instructor.

Links to Nik Peachey's "Developing materials and practices for the digital generation," a webinar presentation for the IATEFL Young Learner SIG. Nik focses on how teacher can combine online tools to encourage students' digital literacy and linguistic skills more autonomously. "Transform your class presentation with video and images: A 5-minute makeover (video)" Well, it takes a little longer to find the images and video that liven it up, but the helpful templates inside of PowerPoint can be used to much better effect than you might believe.

A very useful how-to if you are tired of carrying around your laptop and want to spend your spare time to get everything running conveniently. One important tip involves using your iPhone as a laser pointer so that you can walk around the room while presenting.

"To share your presentations just create a Presefy account and upload a PPTX or PDF file. Your account is given a channel name and URL. Share that URL with your students, have them enter it into their browsers, and they can follow along as you advance your slides. " The free version of Presefy lets you store two presentations at a time; delete and reload as often as you wish.

"Cheating Death by PowerPoint teaches you to make great PowerPoint presentations by avoiding some common mistakes." This is a good show on how to really use PowerPoint creatively. But try Prezi, too. PowerPoint, as the presentation makes clear, seems to want you to fail. This slideshow shows how to overcome the inherent faults of the typical ppt theme and make your shows more interesting to students.

This blog describes some tools for live conference speakers to help make presentations more interactive: "here are a few tools that, thanks to the increasing availability of wireless connectivity at conference centres these days, might help to turn your passive listeners into a bunch of multitasking audience collaborators." These tools include TodaysMeet, for backchannel communications, live polling at Urtak, and Sync.in which will allow collaborative note-taking. Using all these tools will make a live presentation seem much more like an audio-video conference in WiZiQ or Elluminate.

You may not be aware, but Google Docs also has a presentation program feature. So if you can't afford Office, but have Internet access, this is a great tool. (Also check out the drawing program.)

R. Byrne discusses 5 tools used to create an audio slideshow (something between a Powerpoint presentation and a full video). Narrable, UtellStory, Present.me, Hello Slide, and Animoto, which has recently added a video clip option. Each has advantages, and Byrne's links at the bottom lead to some other alternatives and online tutorials. Let your students get creative.

"Discover free templates for Google Slides presentations" Download templates for presentations on Google Slides. GS is becoming more sophisticated. No guarantees on how long this will remain available, but it's free. Templates are categorized by type: "Formal, creative, simple," etc.

Prezi is a flashy presentation program, but once you master the intricacies, creates very beautiful and visual compelling presentations. One advantage over the old PowerPoint is the ability to show how ideas relate to one another visually -- like visual Venn diagrams that swirl in and out, that grow as their significance increases. Worth a try. And available from the cloud, desktop, iPhone, and iPad.

Educational tech means utilizing aspects of the digital classroom within the traditional classroom-students use cloud technology to submit and review assignments, teachers facilitate class discussions through online platforms, and students collaborate through online media. "You can create your own slides with the variety of tools available. More importantly, you can capture the screen shot and make notations directly on it." "Doceri is certainly a whiteboard app - and a great one. But it also allows you to control and use your pc apps remotely. So your presentation can consist of a pc app and then switch to a whiteboard display, all from your iPad." This seems like a great app for creating presentations while also controlling a smartboard and your computer from your iPad.

Most of the great art museums and natural history museums of the world have websites with instructional materials of very high quality. It's worth some time to explore what they offer and figure out how to adapt their resources for your classes. One of the other excellent resources on MoMA Learning is this glossary of art terms.
