This archive site has recorded talks about art from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. You can subscribe via iTunes. Would be very good in a listening/discussion class, as the paintings are quite moving, e.g., Marc Chagall's "I and the Village."

Another free screencast tool--no downloading. Lots of informative screencasts archived at the site also. Make instructional videos for your students, or engage them in a project to create instructional screencasts for their peers.

A nice example of how tagging and a cute app like spazify.xom can be used to keep archives of activities in a CoP.

A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too. Users can doodle while commenting, use multiple identities, and pick which comments are shown through moderation. VoiceThreads can even be embedded to show and receive comments on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archival movies.

You can select any pictures in Flickr and add dialogue bubbles to them. Good for projects where students upload their own pictures or select them from a search at Flickr. Animoto has free educators accounts and you can add up to 50 students as well. This is the equivalent of their upgraded Plus account, which allows you to make and archive longer videos.

Interviews are a great way to give students authentic listening-speaking and note-taking practice. The StoryCorps has created a massive archive of oral histories and this question generator will be a great tool for your students, both to think about what should be in an interview, and how to develop questions.
