"Google Slides is a great collaborative tool that creates slides rather like PowerPoint but online. I have used this tool extensively for groups to create slides at home but also in the class. I often use one set of slides and give one slide to each group of students to work on. In this video I suggest a few useful tips of how to work with this excellent teacher tech tool. It is a quick 5 minute introduction to working with Google Slides. I also recommend you watch the 5 minute videos on working with Google Docs. Google Docs is also good for collabaration and works in a similar way. "

Students just replace the profile text (name, job/title, description, location), then begin replacing picture placeholders with images of their choosing. Good tips, oriented to Apple users, for creating special effects on your G-Slides presentations. Students will find even more creative ways to use these tools.

A set of G-slides that can be used for writing a novel. This approach really works with short stories and poetry, and over the course of a semester or year term would work for a longer effort. Makes a great project for group effort as well. My niece wrote a novel in 2nd year of secondary school, and self-published on Amazon. Great idea for teaching writing, critical thinking, and long-range planning.

"Mote works through a Chrome extension that makes it easy for teachers to leave students voice-recorded feedback in Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Classroom. Students don't need the Mote extension or even an account to listen to recorded feedback. It's a real time-saver and a great way to provide effective feedback. " While Nick is right that voice annotation may be a good way to explain you thoughts on student writing, I think that MS Word has a voice annotation feature. And the written notes to students are still important if for nothing else than a reminder as the student re-writes. Mote requires uploading a document to Google Docs first, though that is no big deal. Worth a try, and Nick explains clearly how to run through the whole process.

Quizlet is one of the most flexible self-teaching tools available online. It offers far more than quizes: Good for self-practice, flashcards, vocabulary study, etc. All the multimedia you want and students can create their own practices.
