My fourth grader and I are reading this right now. He loves it. More accessible to elementary school than the junior version of Omnivore's Dilemma perhaps? Still a bit dry and has some "adult" themes. He glosses over sometimes but other parts he asks me to read again.
This book is packed full of information about what to do with "leftover food" after it is produced and consumed. It would be an interesting read for upper elementary students.
