I am impressed with this student friendly site. I really like the trivia! I took Minnesota History at Mankato State and it is still one of my favorite classes today.

Good site. I liked the entire e-museum site, there is so much information beyond Minnesota history!

This lesson can be used as an introduction to a unit on American settlement in the latter half of the nineteenth century, or as a pre-viewing activity to the PBS series FRONTIER HOUSE. A basic knowledge of 19th-century United States history is required."

Noted as the most violent in the history of the state. Important for state history, the organization of unions. Possible classroom investigation... how this impacted the local economy as this happened during the depression years.

In doing some research on benefactor Millie Speranza, first female president of a MN bank, I came across this awesome MN state document from 1919. What an awesome tool to compare state government today and in the past. Also, love that her family, Produce Exchange Bank, that grew to support many ongoing charitable gifts, is listed here with less than $5,000 in holdings. Great reference tool Barb! I like the "Through the Decades" Fast Facts section, this would be a great extension activity for kids that are history buffs and like to collect this kind of detail.

Briefing room includes speeches, press briefings and presidential action. Issue link incorporates information from civil rights, economy to taxes and foreign policy. Overview of our govement is also included. The site has the history, presidents, Camp David, Oval Offices, Tour and Event information just to name a few.
